Carrollton Baptist Association.
This Association composed of
thirty churches, has just closed a
very interesting session held with
the church at Roopville, all the
churches were represented and re
ports show that nearly all of them
have been prospered during the As-
sociational year just closed.
Fiaancial reports also indicate an
advance in the work for which the
Association stands viz: Missions,
Sunday schools and Christian Edu
cation.
The session was favored with the
presence of a number of brethren
representing these interests, Dr. G.
A. Nunnally of our Educational
board, J. G. Hunt for Bessie Tift
College, W. F. Brown, Pres. Southern
Female College with others repre
senting important denominational
interests. The introduction sermon
by J. W. McLeod was much enjoyed
by an attentive audience.
The annual missionary sermon
by Jesse M. Dodd, was a gem in
point of general information upon
the great subject of our Christian
obligations, and delivered with a
measure of spiritual devotion that
carried its power of gospel truths to
the hearts of his congregation.
The meeting was presided over
by Rev. H. H. Connell, and was
harmonious in all its works and the
entertainment of the body of the
church most excellent.
The next session was appointed
to meet with the Whitesburg church
Oct. 20th 1911. W.W. Roop
Sec’y.
An excellent and most enjoyable
program. The work of Mr. Bright
was delightful. He draws a good
tone and plays the 'cello in a way
that reachnes the heart. He is an
“all round” musical chap, possess an
excellent voice and knows how to
use it effectively. Mr. Piggott’s low
bass made a good, strong foundation
for the work of the quartet, and his
humorous ways created considerable
merriment. Taking it all in all, no
better pleased audience ever left the
opera house than the one that greet
ed the singers last evening.
