The Manufacturers Record of Nov 3, 1910, lias a most instructive article on this subject. Two hundred and four cities, each having a pop ulation of more than 25,000 havej Macedonia, Haralson Co in the last decade increased their j Piny Woods, Appointments of Elder John Trent The following are appointments of Elder John Trent of Virginia. Will preach at the places named below: Center Haralson Co. Nov. 22 Mt. A ' New Hope, Villa Rica, Ga. “ 29 large number of letters from the County Line - 30 mayors of cities and from prominent business men have been received by the Record and two-thirds of them points to the establishments of ifyanufacturing industries or the expansion of those which have been in operation as the cause of the wonderful growth of the cities. These facts should he taken into consideration by the citizens of Car rollton. What efforts are we putting fortli to attract industries to our . city? Wbat inducements are we ^holding out to the better class of citizens from other parts of the United States to come and locate among us with this brain and brawn and this money? What are we doing to keep our own young men with 116? It has been conservatively esti- timated that one good man is worth in dollars and cents to a community at least five thousand dollars. How then has Carrollton and Carroll county been impoverished by the great army of citizens who have left our borders and gone to enrich Alabama, Texas, and other states? While we have some industries worth thousands of dollars to our »(bwn and county we ought to have many more. America’s industries should be encouraged here, not in competition with those now in operation, but to supplement them and help in the development of others on new and seperate lines. Every willing heart and hand should be attracted to our city by the establishment of these ad ditional industries.
