Two Questions
! 1 Are you a Christian? li If not,
! why not.? These are very search-
I ini' questions and need to be the ;
! subject of very much earnest study,
| and without refering to any special
I text, we will take up the first of
1 these questions answered in the i
I fa!!, I
tiat it I
There is an evaporation from the body going on continually, day and
Right, through the pores and glands of the skin. This is nature's way of
maintaining the proper temperature of our systems and preserving the soft
ness and flexibility of the skin, and so long as the blood is free from impur
ities no trouble will result. When, however, the blood from any cause
becomes infected with humors and acids, these too must be expelled, and
coming in contact with the delicate fibres and tissues with which the skin is
*o abundantly supplied they produce irritation and inflammation, and tlve
effect is shown by Kc/.ema, Acne, Tetter, and skin attentions of various kinds.
These impurities and humors get into the blood through a deranged or
inactive condition of the system ; the members whose dntv it is to carry off I ne g a Bve, that is, when the question
the waste and refuse matter of the body fail tc properly perform their work, j g as k ed) "Are you a Christian" and
and this impure, fermenting matter is left in the system to be absorbed by i ^ ansv ^ er j s n0 j am not , how sad

I not a Christian, by this we mean
I one who does not believe in Jesus
as the Christ, and only Savior of the
lost.
Such condition is sad for two j
reasons, first because without Jesus
no one can be truly happy in this
life, for it leaves such one in the
I hopeless state described in Eph. 2d
! chap. “An alien from the common
i wealth of Isreal, a stranger to the
; covenant of promise, without hope
S and without God in the world," most
! fearful indeed to be in such state,
j with the certainty of death before
| us and the awful reality of the judge-
I ment which none can escape "lor
! we must all appear before the judge
ment seat of Christ" 2d Cor 5:10.
| But there must be some great
! hindering cause that comes in the
| way to keep so many, otherwise
good children and older people too,
trom becoming Christians and true
obedient believers in Jesus, and
may it not be well for us just now
to enquire why it is so, and see if
we can find some of the reasons, as
given in the Bible, which brings us
to the next question.
11 "If not why not,” Now who
can answer? Certainly no one
give any valid reason why not;
•ystem, but poisons from without,
euch as Poison Oak, Poison Ivy,
Nettle Rash, etc., enter through the
open pores and glands, and so thor-
onghly do they become rooted in the
blood that they are ever present,
or return at certain seasons of each
year to torment the sufferer. Salves,
washes, lotions, etc., cannot cure skin
diseases. True, such treatment re
lieves some of the itching and dis-
tomfort, and aids in keeping the skin
dean, but it docs not reach the real
cause, and at best can be only palli
ating and soothing. A thorough
cleansing of the blood is the only certain cure for skin diseases. S. S. S.,
a gentle ar.ting, safe blood purifier, made entirely of vegetable ingredients
of the forest and field, is the proper treatment. S. S. S. goes down into the
circulation, and neutralizes the acids and humors, thoroughly cleansing and
purifying the blood, and curing skin affections of every kind, U supplies
to the blood the fresh, nutritive qualities necessary to sustain the Skin and
all other parts of the body, and rids the blood or any and all poisons. S. S. S.
cures Eczema, Tetter, Acne, Salt Rheum, Poison Oak and Ivy, Nettle Rash,
and all other skin troubles, and cures them permanently by removing every
trace of the cause from the blood. Special book on Skin Diseases and any
aaadical advice desired furnished free to all who write.

In Memory of Z. T. Guthrie.
The subject lof this sketch was

On January 13, 1911. the mantle
of sorrow was spread over our city
and surrounding country when it
was learned that Z. T. Guthrie was
dead. Many could scarcely believe
it as he had only been sick four
days. But he had to yield his strong
constitution to the ravage of pneu
monia that so soon did its deadly
work. He fought the enemy brave

he spoke, he said to his wife and
those about his bedside, "Be ye also

In Memoriam.
The Lord has again visited us and
taken our sister, Ida Lee Fielder
She was born October 10th, 1886,
was married to Bro. A. C. Fielder
June 5th, 1904, and joined the Bap
tist church June, 1904, in which
she lived a consistent member until
her death July 24th, 1910.
For several weeks her body was
racked with pain and scorched with
fever, but she bore her afflictions'
with Christian fortitude. She would
often speak of church and revival
meetings she was looking forward
to in the near future, but it was our*
Heavenly Father's will to take her
home where meetings never break
up and Sabbaths never end.
Dearest sister hast left us here,.
Thy loss we deeply feel,
But 'tis God that has bereft
He can all our sorrows heal
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled,
Then in Heaven with joy to greet
Where no farewell tears are shed.
Therefore be it resolved that in
the death of Sister Fielder the
church has lost a consistent mem
ber, the community a good neigh
bor, the husband a devoted wife,
the mother a kind and affectionate
daughter, and that a copy of this,
be placed on our church book and'
