This religous body held its eighty- ninth stated session in LaGrange last week. It is composed of forty- seven ministers of the gospel, sixty- three churches, with a membership of 7,351 and at present, has seven young men under their care prepar ing for the ministry. This Presbytery has included with in its bounds Atlanta and the con- tigious territory.8 The sixty three churches gave last year, to all causes over $200,000 including an average of about $2 per member for Foreign missions and $1.50 per member for Home Mission. The number of officers, teachers and scholars is 7,862. The number added to the church last year on ex amination and by letter was about 850. These figures show how en couraging the reports from the churches were. The meeting in La Grange was intesting and profitable. The preaching was all of an unually fine order. The doctrinal sermon by Dr W. L. Lingle of Atlanta, on the Bodily resurrection of Jesus, and was especially strong. The attendance upon all the ses sions of thejPresbytery was large, and at the preaching services, new Pres byterian church was taxed to its utmost capacity. The hospitality of the good people of LaGrange was marked by every courtesy and attention to the Pres bytery. The next meeting of the Presbytery will be held at Villa Rica Sept. 18th 1911. Meeting for Organization of Carroll C ounty Civic League Meeting for organization of Carroll County Civic League Sunday April 23rd. at 3 p. m. at the Methodist Protestant Church. The committee created at the meeting two weeks ago, to draft a Constitution and By Laws, to nominate the officers of the organization, and to prepare a program for the next meeting have done their work and are ready to make their report. Oratory Rabun Stevens, Marion County. In a very snappy and exciting game of ball played between the 7th 4th District A. and M. School; the latter won in a score of three to two: The 4th Diftrict A; and M. School has played eight games of ball this season winning each one. The games have been with Carrollton High School, LaGrange High School 7th District A. and M. School. There were eight schools repre sented at this meeting, of the 14, prizes offered, the A. & M. won eight, thus giving the A. & M. boys the pennant for the next year. Cochran-Cheney Miss Eunice Cochran and Mr. Irvin Cheney were happily married on last Saturday morning at 12 o’clock. Rev. Jesse Dodd perform ing the ceremony. It was a very quiet wedding, only a few relatives and close friends being present. Mrs. Cheney is one of Carrollton's most worthy young ladies and has hosts of friends here. Mr. Cheney is a rising young bus iness man holding a responsible position with the Gainsboro Tele phone Co. The Free Press join their many friends in wishing them a long and happy life. The spectacle of an automobile driven up the Bull street steps of the DeSoto hotel, racing around on the spacious porches and making the descent into the street again about as easy as it went up, was the sensation witnessed by a large crowd from the hotel and street to day. W. C. Mahoney, with a Carter car, made the first attempt, but did not negotiate the steps. W. D. Brunn, representing the Columbia cars, then telephoned to a garage for a Brush, drove the small car up the steps on one side of the porch around the veranda and down by the other flight. Brunn is a veteran step-cliniber. He made the ascent of Pike’s Peak in a Brush.—Constitution.
