HALL PRAISES
GEORGE TUMLIN
In advocating the bill to increase
the salary of George Tumlin, keeper
of public buildings and grounds,
from $1,500 to $1,800 per year, which
the house committee on appropria
tion had under discussion Thursday,
Joe HilCHall, of Bibb, paid a high
tribute to Mr. Tumlin and the val
ue of his service to the state.
“If Hoke Smith’s election as gov
ernor doesn't result in anything else
it will be notable for the fact that
George Tumlin was made keeper of
public buildings,” said Mr. Hall.
“When he had this position before
he kept the capitol in better condi
tion than any other man who ever
had the job, and I see he has again
started in to clean it up.
“Mr. Tumlin is a good business
man and discharges his duties faith
fully and well and he ought to have
this increase in his salary.”
Mr. Tumlin will get his increase
if the house follows the recommen
dation of the committee on appro
priations.
