Canada Defeats Reciprocity
By an overwheling majority, Can
ada voters defeated the reciprocal
pact with the United States on
Thursday.
It is claimed that the fear that
this trade agreement was the en
tering wedge of the United States to
annexation was primarily the cause
of its defeat.
Notice to Prospective Patrons
City delivery service to be estab
lished October 1st.
It is the policy of the postoffice
department, to make the establish
ment of city delivery service at new
offices, and its extention to new ter
ritory at old offices, contingent upon
the provision of private mail boxes,
or receptacles at all residences, and
places of business.
If a patron prefers, he may cut a
slot in the door, which will serve
the purpose of facilitating the work
of the carrier.
Patrons can aid both, the carriers
and the postoffice, materially, by
calling at the postoffice and asking
for an address slip, and filling the
same out, giving the names of all
persons that receive mail at your
residence, be sure and give your
street and number.
It i3 distinctly understood that no
patron will be served unless he pro
vides some means for the disposi
tion of his mail by the carrier. Re
ceptacles can be had at any of the
hardware stores and range in price
from 35 cents to $1.00, or even
higher. C. E. Smith. P. M.

Carrollton Citizens Win
Following an appeal from a dele
gation of Carrollton citizens, who
alleged that rates ftom Savannah
to Cedartown and other points were
greater than those to Carrollton, an
intermediate point, the railroad com-
missionThursday afternoon held that
the class and common city rates
to intermediate points should not
exceed rates to distant stations by
more than 20 per cent.
The justice, it is argued, in having
higher rates for shorter distances
than for longer hauls, is that the
distant stations are competitive
points.
Notice to Farmers
I have installed a seperate gin for
the purpose of ginning special

First. That our efforts to please are appreciated.
