Ancient Horeee.
It is a well known fact in human
history that man used the horse as
an article of food only for an enor
mous period of time, perhaps 100,-
000 years, before he discovered that
ha was far more serviceable as a
means of transport. In fact, it is
an open question whether the so
called paleolithic men of JSorope
oaed the horse as a means of trana-
port at all. It ia certain that when
Europe was invaded by the neolith
ic men they brought the domesti
cated horse with them and intro
duced cattle as the principal form
of animal food.

A schoolteacher was trying to

her own conception of a flaming

with extraordinary effect.
“What is it?” she asked. The

Mrs. Della Long Unable to Stand
On Her Feet More Than a Few
Minutes at a Time.
Pendergrass, Ga.—Mrs. Della Dong,
of this place, in a recent letter, says:
“For five or six years, 1 suffered agon
ies with womanly troubles.
Often, I couldn’t sit up more than a
few minutes at a time, and if I stood
on my feet long, I would faint.
I took Cardui, and it helped me im
mediately. Now, I can do my work all
the time, and don’t suffer like I did.”
Take Cardui when you feel ill in any
way—weak, tired, miserable, or under
the weather. Cardui is a strength-
Auilding tonic medicine for women.
It has been found to relieve pain and
distress caused by womanly troubles,
and is an excellent medicine to have on
hand at all times.
Cardui acts on the womanly consti
tution, building up womanly strength,
toning up the nerves, and regulating
the womanly organs.
Its half century of success is due to
merit. It has done good to thousands.
Will you try it? It may be just what
3’ou need. Ask your druggist about
Cardui. He will recommend it.
Hunting Elophants.
The London Mail quotes an ivory
hunter in Uganda as saying: “It is
an awful country, with the thickest
elephant grass full of flies, mosqui
toes and ticks. The average range
for shooting the elephants is five
yards. We creep up and shoot point
blank. Two of them I shot I could
touch with my rifle, and they fell
only six feet off. One monster
heard me and rushed at me and
knocked me down, but I managed
to swing my rifle quickly and tire
into his jaw. His blood poured over
my shirt. Tie then rushed off, but
had he fallen he would have crushed
me flat.”
