How to keep from catching the S]);ui
isli influenza and what to do if you do
catch it, both are explained concisely
and clearly in bulletins issued by the
National Conference of Annv, Navy,
and Civilian Doctors, publishred below:
How to Keep from Getting Influenza.
1. Avoid contact with other people
as far as possible. Especially avoid
o-owds indoors, in street cars, then-
•.is, motion picture houses, and other
places of public assemblage.

‘ colds,’’ sore throats and coughs.
Avoid chilling of the body or
bring in rooms of temperature below

I. Sleep and work in clean, fresh
air.
Keep your hands clean and keep
them out. of your mouth.
li. Avoid expectorating in pubile
places and see that others do likewise.
7. Avoid visiting the sick,
s. Eat plain nourishing food and

It. Cover your nose with your hand

when you cough. Change handker '
chiefs frequently. Promptly disinfect
roiled handkerchiefs by boiling or wash
ing with soap and water.
10. Don’t worry and keep your feet
warm. Wet feet demand prompt at
tention. Wet clothes arc dangerous
and must be removed as soon as pos
sible.
What to Do if You Have Influenza.
1. It' you get a cold go to bed in a
wi II-ventilated room. Keep warm.
2. Keep away from other people.
Do not kiss anyone.
Use individual basins and knives,
forks, spoons, towels, handkerchiefs,
soap; wash plates and cups.
■!. Every case of influenza should go
to bed at once under the care of a phy
sician. The patient should stay in bed
at least three days after fever has <1 is
appeared and until convalescence is well
established.
n. 'The patient must not cough or
sneeze except when a mask or hand
kerchief is held before the face.
11. He should be in warm well-venti
lated room.
7. There is no specific for the dis
ease. Symptoms should be met as they
arise.

nia. Avoid it by staying in bed while
actually ill and until convalescence is
fully established .

Richardson was elected clerk, and Mr.
M. A. Stallings was selected grand jur\

grand jury in his usual impressive man
ner.
Solicitor General K. Hoop is at
his post looking after the state's in
terests.
Court Stenographer Hon. 11. II. ltevil
is also here in the discharge of his
dot ies.

d. W. Brown, .1. 1,. Grice and J. M.
Smith.

the court house because of the nature
of the cases to be tried.
Next week the criminal docket will
be taken up.

will be held. All members are urged
to attend, as some appropriations ot
funds will be made and some special
war work will be decided upon.
Mrs. C. A. Lyle was elected president
at a club meeting held on October 10th,
and promises a full winter’s work for
the club.

Roberts United Shows, October 22nd
to 26th, 1918, at the A. & M. Fair, will
furnish all attractions. Free acts twice

held here—Short Horns, Poll, Angus,
Durham, Jerseys and other good breeds.
The agricultural exhibit promises to
be the best ever had. The grounds have
been cleared off and we are repairing
the buildings and will have them in
good shape.
We will have plenty of room for ev
erybody. Good, comfortnbln tents,
good seats, and plenty of amusements.

tions every minute from soon till late
at night.

I rollton. Perhaps 8,000 people were here
and not a drunk man or a disorderly
person. Then Carrollton went over the
highest knob in a bound and praneed
off into the valley beyond to the tone
of 19,000 dollars with more to follow.
