G BOKO IA—Carroll County.
I, .1. W. Stone, clerk of the Superior
Court of Carroll County and the City
Court of Carrollton, do hereby certify
that tho foregoing statements contain
the number of cases now pending in
the Superior Court and the City Court,
together with the number of eases dis
posed of in the year of 1917, the amount
paid out for jury and bailiff fees and
the number of years of labor sent to
the county chain-gang from the City
Court in 1917, is true and a correct
statement' that appeared on record in
my office on July 11, 1918 This the
16th day of July, 1918.
J. W. STONE,
Clerk of the Superior Court of Carroll
County and of tho City Court of
Carrollton.
From the above statement, made by
tho clerk of the Superior and City
Courts it will be seen that during the
year 1917, the City Court held five
sessions which cost the total sum of
$2,356.00, and furnished the county 21
years and 6 months chain-gang service,
which, if counted at $20.00 per month,
would amount to $5,160.00, or $2,804.00
more than the actual cost, saying noth
ing of the fines paid into court by other
defendants.
It will be seen that 458 eases were
disposed of in the City Court during the
year 1917, which cost on an average of
only $5.10 a ease.
During the same year, according to
the clerk’s statement, it will bo seen
that the Superior Court held only two
terms of court and which cost the total
sum of $2,550.00, and disposed of only
118 eases, which amounted to an aver
age cost of $21.60 a case.
Thus it will be seen that it costs four
times as much to try eases in the Supe
rior Court as it does in the City Court,
and that the City Court puts twice as
much back into the county as it costs.
Another fact will bo ascertained from
this sworn statement of the clerk, and
that is, that there arc now pending in
the Superior Court 201 eases, or nearly
twice as many as was tried in one
whole year, and in the City Court, 427
eases.
If we abolish the City Court on the
5th day of November to take effect
January 1st, 1919, as proposed by the
Bill introduced at the last session of
the legislature, the City Court will have
only one more session, and it will be
impossible to clear the docket of all
(lie pending cases; so what will be the
femedyU The glentlemcn who intro
duced the bill made no provision wliat-
evr for extra sessions of tlio Superior
Court, whereby this deficiency could
be taken care of.
From the above, it would seem that
il would lie unwise to kill the court
that is more than self-sustaining and
increase the terms of that court Hint is
so expensive even if it were possible to
do so at this time.
If it i4 the officers of the court that
we are after, let’s get them at the
ballot, box, but by all mepus let’s save
our most economical CitV Court.
CONSIDER THIS QUESTION CARE-
FULLY BEFORE YOU VOTE.

Watoga, W. Va.—Mrs. S. W. GladweU,
of this town, says: ‘‘When about 15 years
of age, 1 suffered greatly .. Sometimes
would go a month or two, and I had
terrible headache, backache, and bearing-
down pains, and would just drag and
had no appetite. Then ... it would last
... two weeks, and was so weakening,
and my health was awful.
My mother bought me a bottle of
Cardui, and 1 began to improve after
taking the first bottle, so kept it up till I
took three ... I gained, and was well
and strong, and I owe it all to Cardui.
I am married now and have 3 children
. .. Have never had to have a doctor for
female trouble, and just resort to Cardui
if l need a tonic. I am glad to testify to
what it has done for me, so as to help

If you are nervous or weak, have head
