This section was visited by a good
rain Sunday which was needed and
much appreciated.
We notice that tlio bean beetle has
begun its ravages in this section. Wo
notice some fine patches of beans total
ly destroyed by this insect. It is said
that arsenate of lead is the remedy for
this pest, but wo notice that they, like
alll other insect pests, are very hard to
control.
Tt seems that this is going to be ono
of the worst years for faming wo have
had in some time for, added to the

Georgia Sunday and Monday.
Messrs. R. H. Folds, F. j. Dorough,
J. W. Porter and T. S. Wallace were
elected at Goshen church Saturday as
delegates to the district conference,
which meets with Fair View church
August 3rd and 4th.
We are having the rain and grass
and weeds are growing and boll wee
vils are plentiful, from all accounts.
The series of meetings will begin at
Goshen church on Saturday before tlio
fifth Sunday in July. There will he
no meeting on tho fourth.
Ye scribe and family had the privi
lege Sunday to attend the decoration nt
Liberty. The cemetery wns in fine
condition and the many mounds of
loved ones were strewn with flow "is.
Rev. C. Dial delivered a splendid me o-
rial talk and a splendid sermon was de
livered by Rev. S. A. Baskin, of Tem
ple. Old Liberty church and commu
nity has some of the best people In
Carroll county, and it was a pleasure,
indeed, to he in their midst again.

Crops are looking better in this sec
tion, but they are awful small for the
time of year.
The fnrmors that had grain, harvest
ed the best crop they have had re
cently, and the oats sure did come in
nice as some of us are almost out of
corn.
The Sunday School convention that
was given out to be hold at Welcome
Sunday wns called in, hut they sang
most of the day and had preaching in
the afternoon.
Ice cream suppers are in order these
Saturday nights.
Mrs. Ethel Gillespie and several oth
ers went to Carrollton shopping one day
last week.
Elder and Mrs. W. P. Morrell spent
Saturday night and Sunday with their
son, R. C. Morrell, and family, of Car
rollton.
Mrs. Rosie Davis and children spent
Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Tdn Cr.i
ven.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Denney were
the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. M
N. Stephens.
Mr. and Mrs. William Spruoll and

We pro sorry to say that the deatl
angel visited the home of Mr. Oloburn
IlnfT and took away their little infant
son. The family lias our heartfelt
sympathy.
Mrs. Carrie Morrell killed her first
snake the day she was forty-three
years old, which was the 17th of .Tune
Miss Stella Dye, of Rowdon, has been
elected principal of Welcome school.
We hope she will have a good school
this summer.

POWELL’S CHAPEL
We had a real b:td sand storm
last Thursday afternoon.
Rev. John T. Lnyton, the pastor at
Flat Rock church, had tho misfortune
of turning his ear over Sunday after
noon. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tyson and
baby were riding with him at. the time
of the accident. Mrs. Tyson wns hurt
pretty badly, hnving three ribs broken.
The others escaped with just a few
bruises.
Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Boyd and cliil
dren, of Atlanta, are spending a three
week’s vacation with relatives and
friends in our communty.
MesdamcB Mary Ann Edge and Hat
tie Edge are on the sek list at this
writing.
Rev. Clarence Boyd and Mr. Cnlaway
Boyd attended preaching services at
Wayside Sunday.
Mrs. R. P. Roberts and son, Mr. J.
B. Roberts, attended preaching services
at Pleasant Grove Sunday.
Mrs. Ida Pope, of Atlantn, spent sev
eral days last week as the guest of her
brother, Mr. W. H. Tyson.
Everybody remembor the Children’s
Day services which will be held at this
place on the second Sunday night in
July. We are planning a. nice program
for this occasion and hope to have a
good crowd present to encourage tho
children on lo nolilor and better and
higher things.
