YOUNG MAN HURT
IN AUTO ACCIDENT ON
VILLA RICA HIGHWAY
Tn an automobile accident Tuesday
night on the Villa Rica highway above
Sand Hill, Mr. Vernard Gray was pain
fully hurt by a motor truck which ran
into the buggf in which he and two
other young men were riding. The
other young men were slightly bruised,
the buggy was torn to pieces, the mule
they were driving dodged the truck and
tore loose from the buggy.
The young Gray received a severe
■wound on tho head above the left eye,
which rendered him unconscious for
fifteen or eighteen hours. He wns
brought to Carrollton and given medi
cal treatment. Wednesday evening ho
wns carried to the home of Mr. Leon
ard McGuire on Newnnn street.
The yoitlig man was just up from a
spell of typhoid fever and had come
ovor to visit his grandfather, Mr. Jesse
Broom.
The motor truck was Mr. Joe War
ren’s of Bowdon, and wns drivon by
Mr. Warren himself. Mr. Warren had
been to Atlanta to dispose of a load
of poultry and wns returning home.

PRIMARY ELECTION FOR
CITY OF CARROLLTON
The pastor will begin a special
meeting at Liberty, near Bremen, next
Saturday night, continuing until Thurs
day night. Mr. Bolton will preach in
Carrollton the fourth Sundav.
Notice is hereby given that on Sat
urday, September 22, 1923, from the
hour of 9 A. M. to 4 P. M., a primary
election will be held according to law
r.t the city hall in Carrollton, (la., to
nominate candidates for tho following
offices for the terms set out in connec
tion therewith ns provided in the recent
acts of tho Legislature, to-wit:
One Mayor »for a term of two years.
Ono Councilman from the first ward
for a term of two yenrs.
One Councilman from the second
ward, one from tho third ward and one
from the fourth ward, for ono venr
terms.
Two members of the Board of Edu
cation from the city at large for one
year. One fr6m tho first wnrd nnd one
from the second wnrd for two years.
One from the third wnrd and one from
the fourth ward for three yenrs.
All qualified voters arc entitled to
vote for all the officers, though the
candidates must bo residents of the
wards from which they are chosen as
set out above.
All candidates must enter and pay
their assessments by 12 o’clock noon,
Thursday, September 20, 1923.
As tho Australian ballot law does not
go into offset until next year, this elec
tion will be held at tho city hall, under
the old law, ns heretofore.

Poultrymen to Have Poultry
Dinner During Short Course
The Carroll County Poultry Associn
tion, together with all other poultry-
men in Carroll county, will join in
making the first day (Wed. '22nd) of
the Annual Short Course at the A. &
»24 M, School, the biggest day of the Short
bourse.
This will be known as Poultry Day
and experts will bo present to talk on
poultry.
One of the main feature 9 of tho day
■will be a poultry basket dinnor for the
upon hour nnd all poultrymen are re
quested to come and bring a basket of
such food as can be made largely of
poultry and poultry products.

“PROF.” WILLIS DIES
Rome, Ga., Aug. 14.—“Prof.” J. P.
Willis, 66, u native of Carroll county,
but for the past forty yenrs a well-
known character around Rome, died at
3 o’clock Monday morning, while a
guest nt the residence of M. Carnes
near Morrison’s camp grounds.
Willis hud no immediate family, his
wife having died about n year ago

Mr. Roy S. Hughey Dead
The remains of Mr. Roy S. Hughey,
twenty throe years old, of East Point,
reached here Saturday morning and
were carried to Bowdon for funeral ser
vices nnd interment.
