in three months
Just the moment you apply Mentho-
Sulphur to an itching, burning or
broken out skin, the itching stops and
healing begins, says a noted skin spe
cialist. This sulphur preparation, made
mto a pleasant cold cream, gives such
a quick relief, even to fiery eczema,
that nothing has ever been found to
tike its place.
Because of its germ-destroying prop
erties, it quickly subdues the itching,
cools the irritation and heals the eczema
right up, leaving a clear, smooth skin
in place of ugly eruptions, rash, pim
ples or roughness.
You do not have to wait for improve
ment. It quickly shows. You can get
a little jar of Rowles Mentho-Sulphur
at any drug store.

HOW TO GET RID
OF WILD ONIONS
! There is no mystery about getting rid
of wild onions when directions are fol
lowed, and it is not difficult to do so
in open fields where good implements of
, cultivation can bo used effectively.
| Here is the way to go about it. Be

shelled bulbs before new bulbs have

in the fall, the onions aro killed. If

I have asked this question to a good
many people since wo decided to hold n
show this winter and a lot of them
have answerfld in the affirmative, but
there linvo been a few who answorod
in the negative.
Now, some of theso people who do not
expect to show, have somo very good
birds but they give as their reason for
not showing, that their birds would
stand no ehaneo to win over some of
(he high-class stock that will bo on
exhibit.
Others give as their reason for not
showing that tlioy do not know the type
of bird to pick, or that they aro not
interested in show birds at all, being
satisfied with any kind of a bird, no
matter how they look, just so thoy lay
eggs.
Now, I boliovo that every one inter
ested in pure-bred poultry should take
an interest in the show, for as Mr.
George Gray said, “The poultry show
is the back-bone of the standard indus
try.”
Now, I would like to say to those
who do not want to show because they
are afraid their birds will not win a
prize, that of course we cannot all win
a prize in a large show liko wo expect
to have, but we should try anyway, and
if we do not win wo have a chance
to compnre our birds with thoso who
do Win nnd wo can study them and be
better prepared to win next timo.
This also applies to thoso who do not
know the exact sizo of liird to pick to j
rin in a show room. You should pick
what you helievo to bo your best birds,
and then you linvo a chance to compnro
them.
Now. there will be a good string of
real show birds at this show, probably
from other counties nnd other states,
nnd thore aro siiro to bo some good onos
from this county nnd you should got
in nt the beginning.
Now, to those who are keeping flocks
of so-called ‘puro bred” poultry, but
who don’t care how they look lust so
ihev lav eggs. Suppose you wished to
buy a pair of Duroe Jersey hogs for
breeding purposes. Wo all know that
a Duroe Jersey 1b a Ted hog with mo- :
dium length nose, moderately short legs, j
with long broad body. I
Would you buy yours from some ad- 1
vertiscr of Duroe Jorseys if you 1 should
;ee in his herd all types of red hogs
with real long or short noses or with
duck legs or up on stilts or so short
that there was no middling! Hardly.
You would say that he had lot liis hogs
“run out” nnd would buy from a
breeder who has the real Duroe tvpe.
So it is with poultry. People aTe
fast learning the true type of the dif
ferent vnrioties nnd it is going to bo
if a customer wishes to buv stock or
C(?gs. sav of White "Leghorns, and vis
its your ynrds nnd finds nil tvpes of
white chickens, with squirrel tails,
^unties, duck legs or with a body like
a Wvandottc, he will sav that you hfave
let your stock “run out” and will buv
from the breeder who has the real
Leghorn type.
Now, I do not believe wo should
ueclect the utility qualities for exhibi
tion minlitios nt nil. but it is poss'ble to
combine both in the snmc bird and the
breeders that learn to do this arc go
ing to he the ones who get the trade.
Youtb for more and better poultry,

those fall-starting plants, will have
made new bulbs and those, when form-
( . ( |, will not be killed by plowing,
though the tops of the parent plants are
killed. .
The tops must be completely buried.
If not buried, they will continue to
grow. A plow with a jointer attachod
To the boam will help in turning under
all the tops. Thorough disking before
plowing will’help also and in addition
help to do a better job of fall plowing.
The next stop is the sowing of a
winter cover crop. This may bo small
grain, vetch, clover, or somo other crop
that comes off early in the spring. Prc
nnre well, fertilize well, and sow the
best seed of the best variety.
When the winter cover crop is plowed
down or harvested next spring, then
plant a cloan culture crop—cotton, to
bacco, and corn aro good. But the
clean culture crop must be kept clean
nnd the onions must not be allowed to
make any top growth.-Tho Progressive

THE ACID TEST
The biggest blessing of any co mmunity is its banks and the con
servative men at their heads. They are the guardians of our financial
existence and welfare, aiming at all times toward security. Can you
imagine the man, who has fallen prey to one of the many disposers of
valueless stocks and bonds, seeking financial relief? Then is when
he learns only too late that he has been victimized of his earnings,
whereas, a few minutes consultation with his home banker would
have made him secure for all times had he sought and accepted his
advice. \ !
MORAL:—The day of the gold brick will never pass; the strength
of the home bank will never fail.
Schools, churches, good roads, streets and all city and county im-
nrovements are supported by these MERCHANTS and BANKERS.
