to Abbeville and is at his old stand
on Main street, with a large and ele
gant stock of general merchandise.
Abbeville is to be congratulated on
the return of the Messrs. Sommers
who are all broad guaged, liberal and
enteprising men. That thej will
command a liberal patronage from
the people of Abbeville and the sur
rounding country, the Chronicle
entertains no doubt.

The cold snap that lias prevailed
in this section for the past few days

Another Abbevile Accession.
Mr. Fred Walton of Jackson
Michigan, who was in Abbeville last
week prospecting lias purchased a
halt interest in the Abbeville brick
works from Mr. Geo. W. Reed.

Attacked By A Savage Dog.
Little Arnold the 5-veur-old soil
of Mr. B. D. McAnally was savage
ly attacked by a dog at the home of
his father near Abbeville la-jl Sun
day. The infuriate brute attacked
the little fellow while alone in the
field near the homestead and before
assistance could reach him his fac-e
was badly lacerated by the don’s
teeth. It was with difficulty that
the brute was beaten away.

A Painful Accident.
Mr. J. A. Carswell while riding
on a truck on Carswell A Stubb s
tram road on Monday of last week,
fell to the track, and narrowly es
caped a fracture of; the leg. The
truck passed over the fleshy part of
the ,, limb .. , nffi.ct.ng . ... painful bruises ,
from which he is still confined to bis
bed.
Death Of Harry P. Shade.
Harry J’. Shade, son of Benjamin
L. and Janet Paul Shade, died ol
consumption at his residence in Ab
beville oil Sunday Feb, Oth. De
ceased was unmarried having just
arrived at the age of maturity when
the dread summons came, calling
him from time to eternity. Deceas
ed was a former citizen of Akron
Ohio, subsequently moving to Gran
ger, Medina count}- Ohio, and in
December last came to Abbeville to
recuperate his failing health, and
was soon joined by liis mother.
Unfortunately his malady was too
far advanced to be benefited by the
balmy southern atmosphere. Not
withstanding the fact deceased was
in a strange land and far away from
horne. when the summons came bis
last hours were cheered by the pars
once of a fond mother and kind
friends wIjo ministered to las every
Young Shade’s death has cast a
gloom over the community in which
during his brief sojourn lie had made
so many friends, Mrs. Shade left
with the remains, Sunday for Grang
er. Ohio, where (lie burial will take
place.
