the recent high walfiy. This morn

Bush, I J Lowery, L F Hinson aud
little Bruce Smith, met there to ex
amine and bury the body. We were
unanimous in the opinion that lie was
murdered, and that the weapon used
was an axe. His head was severed
from his body, the ncck-boue being
cut apparently with an ax. The
head was not found. Three wounds
in lower chest and abdomen show
most clearly that an axe was used.
The body must have been in tiie river
from six to eighf weeks and was
clothed in a navy blue suit and
heavy shoes. Nothing could be

NOTHING LIKE IT.
There’s nothing like having a
good, newsy and enterprising news
paper in a town, but in order to have
a good newspaper iu a town it must
have the support and co-operation of
the people or else it cannot be this.
Everybody is willing to say that a
newspaper is a great help to a town,
but how do they expect a paper to
live on wind?
When the merchants won’t adver
tise that is a certainty that the pa
per will be kept in a cramped posi
tion as it needs these to keep it on the
go, and unless they do advertise the
paper is bound to fade slowly away.
Some complain that there is no
news in the paper and others say it
did not mention the special notes of
the week. The simple reason of this
is the people do not care enough for
the paper to tell the editor
the happenings when they meet him
face to tace on the street, (low in
the name of common sense do they
expect a paper to have all the news
in it unless they will let it be known
when they meet the editor thus.

county last week and no one said a
word about it until the paper was
out, and then they inquired the rea
son it did not appear in the columns
of The Chronicle.
Now let the merchants and people
wake up out ot their Hip Van Winkle
slumbers and help us to make our
paper one of the newsiest of it’s kind
in Georgia.
