Book 3-1, folios 562-564; and
Whereas, there has been a default
in payment of the principal and in
terest of said note for a period of
more than thirty days and said The
Citizens and Southern National
Bank, pursuant to the terms and
provisions of said deed and the note
thereby secured, has declared said
debt so secured by said deed, to
gether with all interest thereon, due
and payable:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the
power of sale contained in said deed,
The Citizens and Southern National
Bank, as agent and attorney in fact
for Johnnie M. Adams, will expose
for sale to the highest and best bid
der for cash, the above described
real estate, on the first Tuesday in
November, 1949, between the legal
hours of sale before the courthouse
door in Jackson County, Georgia.
Said property will be sold and deed
executed by The Citizens and South
ern National Bank, as attorney in
fact for Johnnie M. Adams, to the
purchaser, and the proceeds of said
sale will be used, first to the pay
ment of said note, principal, interest
and expenses, and the balance, if
any, delivered to the said Johnnie
M. Adams.

Harrell did execute to The North
eastern Banking Company, Com
merce, Georgia, a certain security
deed to the following described pro
perty, to-wit:
All that certain property situate
and being in the State of Georgia,
County of Jackson, Minish District,
in the City of Commerce, and more
fully described as follows: Begin
ning at a stump on North Broad
Street (corner of Mrs. Wells lot) and
running thence along North Broad
Street in a Northerly direction N 73
W 125 feet to a stake on Dodd cor
ner; thence in an Easterly direction
along Dodd line N 21 % E 252 feet
to iron pin on back line of this lot
which joins Ray lot; thence in a
Southerly direction along Ray line
S 69% E 116 feet to a stake; thence
in a Westerly direction along Wells
line S 18% W 245 feet to the begin
ning corner on North Broad Street,
according to plat made by T. N.
Mize, Surveyor, April 12th, 1948,
to secure a note of even date
therewith for Five Thousand Dol
lars, all as shown by security deed
recorded in the office of the Clerk
of the Superior Court of Jackson

Whereas, because of default under
the terms and provisions of the deed
to secure debt therein, The North
eastern Banking Company, Com
merce, Georgia, the holder and own
er of said note and security deed has
declared the entire amount due and
collectable; and
Whereas, Robert K. Harrell has
departed this life and said property
is being sold as the property of the
estate of Robert K. Harrell, de
ceased.
NOW, THEREFORE, according to
the original terms of said security
deed and the laws in such cases
made and provided, the undersigned
will expose for sale to the highest
and best bidder for cash the above
described lands, after proper adver
tisement, on the First Tuesday in
November, 1949, between the legal
hours of sale before the courthouse
door in Jefferson, Jackson County,
Georgia:
The proceeds from said sale will
be used, first to the payment of said
note, principal, interest and expen
ses, and the balance, if any, deliver
ed to the estate of said Robert K.
Harrell.

This the 4th Day of August, 1949:
GEORGIA, JACKSON COUNTY:
By the Commissioners of Roads & Revenues, sitting
for county purposes: It appearing that the aggregate
value returned for taxes in said county amount to $6,049,-
300.00 and the net values thereof after deducting home
stead exemptions amount to $3,420,570.00. It is there
fore ordered that a tax of Twenty-Four (24) Mills, or
TWO DOLLARS-FORTY CENTS ($2.40) on the one
hundred dollars of the Net Digest of property returned
for taxes in said county be levied for the following pur
poses :
ITEM No. 1: 20c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay legal
indebtedness, due or to become due, during 1949, or past due.
ITEM No. 2: 10c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay any
lawful charges against the County.
ITEM No. 3: 40c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay for
building and maintaining public roads.
ITEM No. 4: 60c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay for
building and maintaining public bridges.
ITEM No. 5: 20c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay for re
pairs to court house and jail, and other public improvements.
ITEM No. 6: 20c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay for
sheriffs, jailors, or other officers’ fees that they may be entitled to legally,
out of the County.
ITEM No. 7 & 8: 10c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay
expenses of court for bailiffs at court, non-resident witnesses in criminal
cases, fuel, servant hire, stationery, and to pay jurors a per diem com
pensation.
ITEM No. 9: 20c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay expenses
incurred in supporting the poor of the County, and as otherwise pre
scribed by law.
ITEM No. 10: 10c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay
County Agricultural Agents and Home Demonstration Agents the amounts
due them by the County.
ITEM No. 11: 10c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to pay Old
Age Assistance to aged persons in need, the needy blind, and to depend
ent children in accordance with the Acts of the General Assembly of
Georgia.
ITEM No. 12: 20c on the one hundred ($100.00) dollars to maintain
County Department of Public Health.
Making a total of TWO DOLLARS-FORTY CENTS ($2.40) on Each
One Hundred Dollars.
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, in regular
session on August 2, 1949, by resolution recommends to the Board of
Commissioners of Roads and Revenues a levy of Fifteen (15) Mills be
made for the purpose of schools of Jackson County for the year 1949;
THEREFORE, it is further ordered that an additional tax of fifteen (15)
mills be levied and collected and disbursed as provided by law for the
maintenance and support of public education in said county, the Board
of Education of said County having so recommended, and such recom
mendation having been approved by the County School Superintendent.
