The Grand Jury, sworn, selected ar,d chos. u

We have examined through committees ti e
Poor School fund, the luuos of the County
the Books of the Superior ami lute
rior Courts. The Books of the treasurer ami
Ordinary also the Court IJouse and Jad, and
the Roads and Bridges.
I\ e tind the B rnks and accounts of the Or

neatness not to be surpassed, i ell. cling tin:

Jhe Ordinary received last y*ar (1859) :roro

the quota of the S'ale he rer’ ivnd , i. v n hun

total of Poor School funds two thousand, one

paid out for children who have avaded them
selves of the funds, including his commissions,
two thousand and sixtv four dollars nd seven
ty three cents ($20(1-1,73) leaving a balance on
hand of one hundred and one dollars and thu -

.The number of poor children returned for
IBJK* between the ages of Band is as 458, ol
this nutnber 232 availed themselves of the
bounty.
The Tax ordered to be levied bv thefi ferior ;
Court last vear (1859) was ‘62 3 per cent on
the State Tax. The y r (1660) the
children between the ages of 6 and 18 w.il be :
admitted and consequently the number wilt
be largely increased.
We would therefore respectfully recommend
that the Tax bo increased from 16 2 3 to 25
per centum on the State Tax, to uiee f the de
mand of the probably incress-d number of
children whose c-nddion may require the
bounty.

We find no ei try on the Estray Book since

We have examined th Tax Collectors Book
and recommend that he be allowed the sum of

his Insolvent List.
We haveeximired the Court House and
find that the North Column in front of the
building nerds repairs on the plastering—the
Winoow Blinds of the ‘irand Jury Room also
needs repairing.
We find the Jail neat and cleanly kept,
though s tme plastering is very much needed
in the debtms room and although this condi
tion of the Court House and Jail has been re~
ported by Several preceding Grand Juries, yet
the repairs I ave not been made, and as longer
delay will tend to the injury of the buildings
we respectfully request the proper authorities
to hsv this matter attended to forthwith.
We find the lioads and Bridges generally in
good order, with the exception of tne Road
leading from Thompson Malones to Daniels
Ferry, and e respectfully recommend the
Inferior 0 urt to have a Bridge erected across
the Branch in Sanders’ lane.
Tr.is body after a care ul investigation and
mature deliberation having unanimously re
solved that the (irand and Petit Jurors are
justly entitled to a reasonable compensation for
services rendered so tar as to cover necessary
expenses white in attendance at Court. We
therefore respectfully recommend that the In
ter or Court assess such a tax as may be -ec
essary to enable them to appropriate such an
amount as will aliow to each Grand Juror the
sum of two dollars per diem, and also such
amount as will allow to each Petit Juror the
sum of one dot ar per diem, in addition to the
compensation they air. ady receive the above
recommendation, embracing the present Term
of he Court.
In tulHlinent ofthe birr upon this suljeet,
our Secretary is hereby req leafed to pay over
all amounts received for verdicts at this t rm
jof the Court, into the hands of the County
Treasurer for County purposes.
In taking leave of His Honor Judge Harris
we deem this a fit ad proper occasion to give
soma expression relating to his official course
during this term of the Court. His charge in
organizing the Court was able and comprehen
sive and in commenting on the criminal Code
he forcibly set forth the importance of a care
ful and rigid obse> va n ce of 01 its requirements,
c early pointing out to each Juror his duty in
ferreting out c.itne and bringing offenders to
justice. In conclusion we herein respectfully
Under him our sincere thanks for the promt
SKt’i., energy and fi lelity w.’.‘h which he has
discharged the duties of his station, and also
for his manitest kindness and indulgence bo
readily and cheerfully extended to us.
We also tender onr thanks to the Solicitor
General W. A. Lofton for his counsel and

HOSTBTTEH’S
STOMACH BITTERS,
fbr the cure of Dyspepsia, huligestion, Xausra,
Flatulency, Los* of Appetite, ter any Bilious
Complaints arising froth a morbid inaction
of the Stomach or Bowels, ■producing Cramps,
Dysentery, Colic, Cholera Morbus, efie.
In view of the fact that every member of
the human family is more or less subjected t
ome of the above complaints, besides in
numerable other conditions in life, which,
bv the assistance of a little knowledge or
exercise of common sense, they may be able
o to regulate their habits of diet, and with
the assistance of a good tonic, secure per
manent health. In order to accomplish this
desired object, the true course to pursue is,
certain./, that which will produce a natural
state of things at the least hazard of vital \
strength and life: for this end Dr. Hostettor
has introduced to this country a prepara
tion called HOSTETTEIfS STOMACH
BITTERS, which at this day is not a nyyf j
medicine, hut one that has ! v ,. n tried for I
y.ars. givin™ atUfccdon to all who have ,
used it. The Hitters operate powerfully upon
the stomach, bowels and liver, restoring
them to a healthy a1 vigorous action, and
thus by the simple process of strengthening
natuvs, enable the system to triumph over
disease. Diarrhoea, dysentery or flux, so
generally contracted by new settlers, and
caused principally by the change of water
and diet, will be speedily regulated by a
brief use of this preparation. Dyspepsia,
a disease which is probably more prevalent
when taken in all its various forms, than
mny other ; the cause of which may always
be attributed to derangements of the diges
tive organs, can be cured without fail by
using HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BIT
TERS as per directions on the bottle. For
this disease every physician will recoin
mend Bitters of some kind, then why not
-use an article known to lie infalliblet
Every country have their Bitters as a pre
ventive of disease, and strengthening of
the system in general, and among them all
there is not to be found a more healthy
people than the Germans, from whom this
preparation emanated, based upon scientific
experiments which has attended to advance
the destiny of this great preparation in the
medical scale of science.
FEVER AND AGUE.
This trying and provoking disease, which fixes its
relentless grasp on the body of man, reducing him to
a mere shadow in a short space of time, and rendering
him physically and mentally useless, can be defeated
and driven from the body l>y the use of HOSTETTE&'d
RENOWNED BITTERS. Further, any of the above
stated diseases can not be contracted when exposed to
any ordinary conditions producing them, if the Bitters
are used as per directions. And as it neither creates
nausea nor offends the palate, and rendering unnecea
sary any change of diet or interruption to usual pur
suits, but promotes sound sleep and healthy digestion,
the complaint is thus removed as speedily as is con
sistent with the production of a thorough and perma
nent cure.
For Person* in advanced years
