Two cowboys and several sticks ot dynamite very suddenly and unex pectedly discovered the Hualipi mines near Kingman. A. T. The cowboys were on their w ay across the territory, tnd they bad with them several sticks of dynamite, to be used when they reached the Colorado river. One day they camped some seven miles north of where Kingman now is. They left the dynamite among some bowlders at a distance from the camp for safe keep- Ing. The day was unusually hot, and in some unaccountable way the dyna mite went off.* The cowl < Lurried to the place of explosion, and even their Inexperienced eyes saw that the dyna mite had blown a gold mine into their pockets. As high as S2o,<XH) a month has been taken out of this mine.—Phil adelphia Times. A “Pracl lon I’’ Joice. An Irishman took a contract to dig a public w ell. When he had dug about 25 feet down, he came one morning and found it caved iu—fill--1 neatly to the top. Pat looked cautlour< mid and saw that no one was near, then took off his hat and coat and bung them on the windlass, crawled into some bushes and waited events. In a short time the citizens discovered that the well had caved in. and, seeing Pat’s hat and coat on the windlass, they supposed he was at the’bottom of the excavation. Only a few hours of brisk digging cleared the loose earth from the well. Just as the eager citizens had reached the bottom ami were wondering where the body was Pat came walking out of the bushes and good naturedly thanked them for relieving him of a sorry job. Some of the tired diggers were dis gusted, but the joke was too good to allow of anything more than a hearty laugh, which soon followed.—Loudon Answers. A UaugeiouM Hallucination. 1 saw a shrewd and successful gen tleman who, on my being introduced, •aid he was glad to have a talk with a nerve doctor, for be thought there was something wrong. Then he told his tale, which was that he was pestereo by gangs of gypsies who appeared ev erywhere. He said that he had just come In from chasing them in his gar den, for when ver he looked out he •aw them pulling up bis shrubs. I said: “But the shrubs are not re moved. How do you account for this?" He said: “Well.-It Is hard to tell, but I still feel they’ do it, and when I wake in the morning 1 see the same gypsies using my toothbrush and my hair brushes. I jump up, ouly to find they have disappeared.” He admitted the absurdity of the whole thing, but yet he said he felt it was true, and he must act upon bis belief. What might have proved a serious loss fallowed the persistent hallucina tions, for before 1 insisted on his with drawing from all business he had od one holiday gone to his office to look through his private safe with Its very valuable securities. Before leaving he thought he saw hia son in the adjoin ing office and told him to put the things away and to lock the safe. The son was a hallucination, and It was only by accident that the son discovered the ■tate of affairs before others arrived 1 next day.— London Lancet. A QUIET SU IDAY IN THE COUNTRY.
