Several persons will be received into tlic fellowship of the Church, at the Sabbath evening service. Forced to nav fecir-condrmniuf Lansaait. Hon. A. 11. Bolder, of Shephcrdstown, Western Virginia, first a member of the U nited States Congress, and afterwards of the Confederate States Congress, as the pfrraae goes, and hat tty gn, has been pardoned by tile President of tlic United Stales. Apropos,—** to that word "pardoned Titfvr it makes our face sting all over, and redden into crimson, when We think how a ofuelly-esacting Government has so ordered it, that it is the only shibboleth that en sures admittance to ita audience-chamber. How generous, aye, how magnanimous the conqueror, that forces the irresponsible in stincts of a subjugated people to utter a hollow lie from their throats, as the only alternative of purchasing a lew more wretch •and momenta of existence, slavish existence, nd a contemptible pittance of this world’s «,oods. No matter what we think about our 'onduct as touching secession, whether con vinced or not convinocd that we were crimi nals, traitors, wicked rebels, still we are forced to ask to be pardoned, —no other word will suit—thereby confessing to "the powers that be,” to the listening and record, ing world, to the far-off, unborn posterity, to our wives, to our children, to ourselves, yea, and to our God, that we have been guilty of treason, damnable, odious tree-on, nml there upon and therefore must beg to be pardoned ! Among the last expressions of the Saviour of the world/ was : "Father forgive them ; for' they know not w hat they do.” They for whom thiff forgiveness, —this /uinlon —was invoked, were Jews, —gwrlty, not of compara tively insignificant treason or rebellion, nor of the small affair of man murder, but of Ddi* cidc— G<nl-Murder,-- infinitcly-upim infinite ly, the highest crime in the Univcrstr; and yet, they wero jtardoned, without being compelled to pray to that effect,; or cv<*n to confess, by word or deed, that they, had been guilty of any thing calling for pardon. Verily, vevily, how different arc ma- ’s ways from Uod’a ways \ The I'holrra in Atlanta! The latrlliifrnrrr of day before yesterday (Sept. I2lh) says that two new cases of Cholera occurred tho day before (that is on the 11th) at the quarantine camp, "and while"—continues that journal—“they arc considered of a severe character, we learn irom Dr. Yarrow, Surgeon of this Dost, that they readily yield to his treatnieut, and tlfet he hopes to save them all. The first cases have all so far recovered that two of tho men will be sent to duty to day,and the others perhaps tomorrow. Every precaution is being taken to prevent its spread in tho city. Our most eminent phy- MUiana give it as their opinion that the dis oaae cannot prosper in this atmosphere." Ilow'dre Milk tint into tire Corona Nut. All the world was astonished, more than astonished—some really dumbfounded, set way abnek—that Henry Ward Beecher should grow to be even demi-semi conserv ative in his politics; for he never did go more than one fourth over, as much fuss as has been urn le about it. It has developed into history that the clerical politician, on rather the political clergyman, has a hopeful son who is an officer in the regular army. This said scion of the Beecher stock, the chroniclers have it, was brought up before a court martial, some twenty months ago, for some malfeasance or delinquency, and was dismissed from the service. President John son, some time ago, not only restored Beech, cr Junior, but promoted him. The coinci dencc-hunters have discovered that the re duration and promotion of Bccchcr junior, wd tho coming-out, or demi-somi-coming eut, of Beecher senior, in favour of the Presi dent's policy, happened very near the same time. Some suspicious persons are trying aery hard to insinuate that these two events, referred-to just above, arc related to each other by the close consanguinity, as it were, of cause and effect. The only way to test the matter, we suggest, is, for President John son to- ua-restore and un promote tiic young gentleman for sonic little space— . Beecher senior rjck tube let into the secret —and if the latter still sticks up to the Pres ident, after a fair trial of his faith, then put it down as a genuine stick, as far as it goes, and no mistake. If, however, he begin* to hem! and haw! and clear his throat, write letters explanatory, and write again to explain-the explanatory letters, and so'on, it may fairly be inferred that his conversion or demi-semi conversion is all a flash - in the pan. As it is, he is writiag. too much— Bight now,. however, his situation is almost what is sometimes called a quandary, or a predicament. Its he sticks, or demisemi sticks, to the President and tho “ my poli cy,” his salary in the Plymouth Church re mains perssiently lowered, with a down i tendency-, as the commerce-folks say ; id if he pulls off from the President, tsing his quarfcr-hold on h in, then -her junior perhaps will find him-cif. 71* eolpts, dropped from the list. ,1 'ji.v ']iJ cumin, ni’lif i way he’s «yed." | St.KUUaa Cars.— \V« learn from the At lanta papers that sleeping cars »re a-»n to be introduced on the Western and Atlantic Railroad, and, in a little while, also on all the principal roads of the South. Th* President don’t sriT ti!em The Boston Ailerrliser, a Radical concern, is being smartly exercised on the subject of President Johnson’s English, omerting or rather <urerverating, that it is taii-to-topi cal. By that, we suppose he means, nr ought to mean, that the President brings too many of their corrupt office-holders to tou, vetoes too many of their unconstitutional bills, and is altogether too overwhelmingly ftyieol for their radical, negro equality, miscegenation, leveliting, superlatively abominable In I diabolical sophistries snd falsehoods. Northern Ejections.—ol aine, as well as Vermont, has given increased majorities for the Radicals. Wc would l.ke right here to ask two or three fair questions of any Johnson tnan North, who may be posted up in regard to all llte jiolieies and programmes of that party, especially touching the sul rotn or ulterior purposes it may have in view, if there be such. In the event - that -the-Radicals- suc ceed, and attempt to carry out their avowed designs against the U"U h, does the John-on party intend to stand and look on, arid see us destroyed'! or will ihey tell us resist it to the knife, and the knife to the hilt ! and will they help us ? Those are, the questions that have to be, aud should be, asked and answer ed. Major General John A. Logan, of Illinois, and Major-General Benjamin F.
