Dabby’s Prophylactic Fluid.—Dar by’s Fl*id is DOW acknowledged on* of tk« greatest dentriftee* of the age. It acts like , charm on the teeth, and is, undoubtedly, the r rry belt preparation for rendering pure •ad Ireah the moat offensive breath. Our enterprising friend, Dr. N. B. Tiik Wkathkk.—lt rained, off and on, pretty much the whole of last Sabbath, and the preceding night—continuing cloudy through the greater portion of yesterday. The equinox is heralding its coming. A fire occurred in Atlanta, on last Satur day—ssys the Intelligencer of the dny after (Sunday)—destroying “a row of wooden buildings on Marietta street adjoining the storo of Messrs. Ziromertuao A Verdery.” The Intelligencer makes no itemisinga of Ihe lueses by which to get at, any ways ac curately, the damages, individual or aggre gate. Tbe lost, however, we infer, was not se rious—most of it being covered by insurance. Totally lunoked. —There were two men in the so-called “ Loyal ” Convention that assembled in Philadelphia on the 3rd instant, who, outspokenly, were not in favor of hanging Jefferson Davis, at least, as one of them said, “untill fuund guilty.” In the other Convention, the one that assembled at (he same place, on the 14th of August, there were doubtless more than two, but we are not authorized to say all, Mr. Raymond be ing recollected—that were not willing to see our beloved quondam Chief Magistrate sus pended to the ignominous gallows: but in saying this much, we have to infer it, as in the published proceedings of that body, not a word, not a syllabic, is there that whisper fngly tells there is such a man as Jefferson Davis in the universe. How that white-livered Raymond must have chuekelcd as he felt and knew he, the Da vis-hater, and Davis-calumniator, was the master ruling spirit of that vast assemblage The Southern Herald We take shame to ourself lor not hav ing heretofore extended the customary journalistic greeting to this new member ol the Hkouoia press. The S>mth< nt //< rahl, then, is a daily, published at Griffin, by Vvktin A Kaoan, and has D. N. Mar tin-, K-<| , and Dr. M. Dk* vksport for its editors. It is the ottieial city and county paper, and its subscription price is 8G per annum. So much tor business. As to its jiolities, it is a straight-out, stiff-backed, square up in the stirrups sort of paper, that seeius to say just what it thinks and mana ges testy it Well. Ky way of illustrating the assertion we have clipp'd its leader of the 11th inst., and with the extension of the custom try right hand, introduce the Grijfiii U'rnhi as one that can speak for itself. — An yn»U> ('"nxtttnti.'nmli*t, 13 ill. Information Wantkd. —Of the where abouts of John Dunning, aged about twenty five yoars, of medium size. He was one of two sons of Mrs. I tunning, an old lady living in Hnutingdon, Tennessee. Both sons were in the Confederate army, and made good soldiers—one was killed, and the other, John, returned home after the war, and re mained until August 18Go, when he left, with the intention of looking out a more comfortable home for his aged mother. Ife was expected to return in two weeks, but no tidings have been heard from him since, ex cept that he was in this place for a few days after leaving home. lie left here, but no one knows where he went to. llis mother is in great trouble about him, and will be thankful for any information as to his fate. Address her at Huntingdon, Tennessee. — Heaf Tenn. Whig. VH~ Some years ago a young man, hold ing a subordinate position in the East India service, twice attempted to deprive himself of life by snapping a loaded bistol at his head. Kach time the pistol missed fire. A friend entered his room shortly afterward, and he requested him to fire it out at the window ; it then went off witdout any diffi culty. Satisfied thus that the weapon had been duly primed and loaded, the young man sprang up, exclaiming, “I must be pre served for something great, and from that moment tjare up the idea of suicide, which had for some time previous been uppermost tb his thoughts. That young mau after ward became Lord Clive. Aricines.—There was a suicidal mania in I'ew York on the 11th. Pereise, an Italian, leaped out of a secdhd-'storv win dow. Mary Smith jumped'into Hast River. Several other attempts were made the same day. Love and liquor were the causes. A female school teacher, in her adver tisement, stated that she was “complete mistress of her own tongue.” If that’s the esse, said a caustic old baribdlor, ‘'she can’t ssk too much for her services.” From the ItfcbnVAnd'lJjhmijWer Mth. Jefferson Davis should be released. It is folly to talk of his trial. Ndbotfy khows bet ter than Andrew Johnson that there is to be no trial. The Radical scheme is to confine •he prisoner without warrant of law’or expe diency (only through malice) until lie dies. Does the President approve of this 1 ? Will he be a tacit accomplice in this' atrocious murder ? We hear him ever and anon de nounce Jefferson Davis as a traitor; but we beg t» tell him that, if Mr. Davis is a traitor; there is not a decent person in the South who does'n'»t accept the epithet for liimself.
