Read the Administrator’s Sale advertised lo come off the first Tuesday in November 1. O. O. F.— Warren Lodge meets this evening at 7 o’clock. The li. W. Grand Master will be in attendance! A Beautieci. Street.—We trust it is 'the purpose of the owners of store-house, and other buildings on the business portion of Hill Street, to have the same thoroughly renovated and re-painted, following up the lead that has been so well set on the West side of the street. When that is done, we venture the assertion, that llill street, Griffin, Georgia, will soou become noted as among the prettiest streets in ihe Bute —if not the very prettiest, in liict, Uriffiu, as a w ole, I »■> more of the ttDthetie elements, proper and fit to elaborate a first class beau* lul city from, than any place we hnuW of in ail tins region of the Bouth —not excepting the far-famed village of Quincy, F.orida. Is Booth Alive T —Some weeks ago we gave place iu our columns to a lynghly arti cle from a Chicago paper, going to prove that grave doubts were entertaiued by some whether the individual kilted by Corbett was in reality Booth, the assussifi cf Lincoln. In this connection we give the following irum the S. F. Examiner s Chicago corres pondents letter.— Carolinian. Many persous are of the opinion that, \\dikes Booth still iives. Let me give your readers a piece of information that recently came into my possession, and wh.ch has never been printed. On the evening of President Liuojln’s assassination, a yuun<' lady m Washington, who was p ayiug at Ford s theatre, was on her way Irom her home to the theatre. As silo was walking along the street at a quarter past seven o clous, she met H’nkes Booth on the sidewalk. They had beeu well acquainted for several years, and were ou intimate terms. 1 hey stood awhile and chatted, dhe gir. tu.d Booth that she had rtceivelan anonymous letter th it day that was quae amu-iug. Booth asked, her to let him take it, and ho woul I hand it to I.er another tun ■. She gave him the letter ad hurried on to the theatre That ni'dtt .-he was horrified in h um that Wilkes Booth i.aJ u.-sasstuated I'rcsideut Lincoln in the very theatre where she was playing. The poor girl w;is frightened out of her wits for several Jays, fearing that someone had seen her give Wilkes B »otb the paper so short a time before the assassination. So time passed on and the actress went to her home iu l’hil tidelpliia. About five weeks since that '0 ng lady received back again, through the postotiiee, the very letter the put into the hands of Wilkes Booth on the night of the assassination. There is a private mark on it, too, that makes her positive that Wi.ks Booth sent it. These are facts, and the actress is now playing at one of the Chicago thea tres. The story is a strange one, to say the least of it. Gen. B. M. Prentice Denounced as a Liar —7b the Editor of the Quiney Herald —I see from the Jacksonville Sentinel, that General B. M. Prentiss, in a speech made at 1 -Jacksonville a few days since, insinuated that President Johnson was accessory to the assassination of President Lincoln. He also, as reported, said he was backed in this sus picion by “ the opinion of Hon. William A. Richardson,” as expressed to himself. If he made the statement in reference to ne, I declare him to be a base and infamous liar. W. A. Richardson. . Quincy, 111, August 24, 1866. A manlier of ministers of the Ohio Meth odist l‘ri testant Conference recently held a fnceting at Sabine, Ohio, and resolved to strike for an increase of salaries. Uisuiark is described as posessing a stony -U-n and large bull dog ears, heavy mous tache, proud nostrils, jagged eyebrows, laigv double chin, ponderous mouth, etc. LOST!
