Mitchell will have some more of those splendid fresh oysters in a few days Look out for them.. Fxi‘l.4s aTORY.— We have been informed, sinee publishing the account of the arrests made in this city on Friday night last,, that the whole responsibility of the -‘rude an.l uncivilized” treatment of Mr. Nal’a family falls upon Deputv Maishal Bunnell, who came from Savannah to make the arrest. e understand that the gentlemen artes ed here some days since, and now imprison ed at Pulaski, were treated ve.y consider ately by their guard, to whom they desire an ackuowlodgement should be make. Gone up —V.’e inler fn.m the fact that the Griffin papers never reach uh now that the city of Griffin has been sunk hv an earthquake, or squelched bv a meteorite, or got bnrsted up iti some way. It was a sweet little village. Pea,e to its ashes Wath ■intjton Gazette. VVc assure the Gazette man that none of the misfortunes referred to have befallen our handsome little city —we will not accept tiis word village. If |,e does not quit ie furring to ns in this manner, we will arui an emissary with torch and turpentine and or der him to burn up the two groceries at Wa-hi ngton, thus destroying the set lenten l entire. He careful, brother. Declined. —Our friend E. W. Beck, Esq., had a catd in our columns yesterday, in'wt.ich he declined to run tor the office of Solicitor-General. We feel sure he would discharge the duties of the office w ith credit to himself, and satisfaction to the public, if he were elected. lls has reasons for not bring a candidate at present, however, and of course none can object. Arrested Yesterday. —The notorious J C. Swsyze was arrested yesterday at the instance ot Mr. J. C. Briggs, ex Federal sol dier, and former partner of Swajze in the negro brokerage business, instituted since the war at this place. The cause of the ar rest, we learn was that this mauSwajze had possession of money that be'ongs in part to Drigg*, and which he refuses to pay over, and to secure which Briggs bad him arrested and hts property attached. Bonds w,re re quired, but up to the time of writing had ,not been given, Swayze remaining in the custody of Sheriff Doyal. And this is the man at whose instance six of our citizens have been arrested, their homes invaded, families insulted, and them jpelves imprisoned iu Fort Pula-ki ! We might be tempted to doubt the ex'stence of ■ just God could such base spite and petty* malignity as this nun hag exhibited against our peaceable little community still go un punished. But he seems at last to have reached the “beginning of the end" of his rascality. In a short while his deeds will be brought to light, and due punishment pieted out to him. Fantastic. —We notice that the young ‘‘bloods ’ of Atlanta are preparing (or a fan tastic parade in that city about Chrisiraas. This will create iiiuch-yncrrinient, no doubt, and we would like to see our young men ot Griffin iuak» a similar move, it would ad.l much to the spirit of liveliness, and would make them the heroes of the hons.
