Deafness Cannot be Cured
by local applications as they cannot reach
the diseased portion of the ear. There is
t
by constitutional remedies. Deafness is
caused by an inflamed condition of the
mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube.
When this tube is inflamed you have a
rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and
when it is entirely closed, deafness is
the result, and unless the inflammation
can be taken out and this tube restored to
its normal condition, hearing will be de
stroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are
caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but
an inflamed condition of the mucous sur
faces.
We will give One Hundred Dollars for
any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh)
that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh
Cure. Send for circulars; free.

The Georgia Lynching-
Whatever any Northern reader may
feel about tbe~burning of the negro
Sam Hose and the lynching of tbo
negro preacher Strickland, in Georgia,
one thing he should always bear in
mind, that there is no vital difference
between the white man in the South
and the white man in the North, and
that what white men do in Georgia
white men from New York, or Massa
chusetts, or Minnesota would probably
do in Georgia under similar circum
stances A county in Georgia went
stark crazy over Sam Hose. Northern
readers cannot understand it. A letter
has come to the Weekly from a Geor
gia woman which tells a story of Sam
I Hose’s crime as Georgi i understands
| it. It i,- hardly a letter that the Week-
I iy may print, but it may be believed,
1 and it helps to an understanding of
■ what has happened No man who be-
I lieveJ what this woman believes and
; has written about Hose and Strickland
and negroes of their class in the south
i would not lie surprised at anything
I that might follow such a crime ag
Hose committed. It may be that
nothing can justify such an orgy as
was held over Hose, but there is plm
ty that can f xplain it.
The men and wi men of the South
believe that certain unruly negroes
can < nly be r<-trained from horrible
erimis against white w-nnen by swift
and terriL'e puiiishm nt We of the
north have little experience of these
crimes but our blood circulates, and
we know what sort of disposition such
crimes arouse To read the story of
Sam 11. ~c'- ciime as our Georgia cor
respondent has written it, begets abso
lute indifference to that negro’s suffer
ings or fate. It fills the n.iud with
horror, and makes one feel that any
means that is effectual to prevent such
crimes is justified, One forgets tbe
monstrousness of the Sam Hose lynch
ing, and only wonders whether it was
expedient—E S Martin, in Harper’s
Wet kly.

i* Saved My Baby’s Life.”
Johnson Station, Ga., September 16, 189 S.
LAMAR & RANKIN DRUG CO., Atlanta, Ga. J
Gentlemen: 1 can not recommend your Pitts’ Carminative too 4
strongly, as 1 owe my baby's life to it. She had Cholera Infantum X
when five months old, and 1 could get no relief until 1 began using Pitt’s *
Carminative. The fever left her when 1 had given her but two bottles, ?
and she had fattened so she did not look like the same child. I advise all t
mothers who have sickly or delicate children to give this remedy a trial.

HOW TO FIND OUT.
Filia bottle or common glass with your
watrr and let it sUn 1 twenty-four hours ;
a seliment or settling indicates an unheal
thy condition of the kidneys; if it stains
your linen it is evidence of kidney trouble;
too frequent desire to pass it or pain in the
back is also convincing proof that the kid
neys ; nd, bladder are out of order.
What to Do.
There is comfort in the knowledge so of
ten expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-
Root, the great kidney remedy, fulfills ev
ery wish in curing rheumatism, pain in
the back, kidneys, liver, bladder and every
part oi the urinary passages. It corrects
inability to hold water and scalding pain
in passing it, or bad effects following use
of liquor, wine or beer, and overcomes that
unpleasant necessity of being compelled
to go often during the day, and to get up
many times during the night. The mild
and the extraordinary effect of Swamp-
Root is soon realized. It stands the high
est for its wonderful cures of the most dis
tressing cases. If you need a medicine you
should have the best. At druggists fifty
cents or one dollar.
Tou may have a sample bottle and a
book that tells more atwut it, both sent
absolutely free by mail, if you send your
address to Dr. Kilmer & Co., Bingham
ton, N. Y. When writing be sure and
mention that you read this generous offer
