Food For Those Who Go To War. Next to Ike hour of being called out the national guardsman the last few days have been the most deeply inter* esled iu the question of what they will get to eat. The adjutant general’s office, however, has set all doubts on that hand‘al vest by prescribing the rations for the men when in the field. *lt is announced that the ration shall consist of these articles of food : Meat, bread, fresh vegetables, dried vegetables, coffee or tea, sugar, cheese, vinegar, soup, salt, pepper. The meat components of one ration shall be either eighteen ounces of bacon or ham, twenty-four ounces of salt or corned beef, twenty-eight ounces of fresh beef or fresh mutton, sixteen ounces of chipped beef, canned or dried beef, twenty four ounces of oerwed beef, canned or fresh fish, or sixteen ounces of dried fish. The bread components of one ration Mihail be twenty-four ounces of either soft or hard bread. - In fresh vegetables the components o’, one ration will be either 24 ounce* of potatoes or 10 ounce* of cabbage or onion* The component* of a dried vegeta ble ration differ greatly, the figures being these: Beans 3 ounces; peas, 3 nonce*; rice, 2 ounces; hominy, 2 ounces; baked beans, canned, 16 ounces; pea soup, half package. Into n ration of coffee and tea are to enter these components: Coffee, green, 3 ounces; coffee, roasted, or roasted and ground, 2| ounces; tea, green or black, | of an ounce. Sugar ration* will each be made up thi* »ay : Sugar 4 ounce*; ayrnp, 1 gill The other component article* of one ration are: Cheese, 8 ounces; vise gar, half o! a gill; candles, 1 ounce; soap, 1| ounce*; salt, lj ounce*, pep per, 2 25:b* of an ounce.
