Tbs eighth annual reunion of the old Confederate soldiers will be io At lantit from July 20th to 23rd. These men voluntarily left their homes In 1861 and for sous long years suffered untold agonies in defense of your homes, your families and your property. £ £ All true Confederate soldiers love each other like a brother, and all ever tbe South, especially in our state and our county, want tn attend this re union. Il will be like an old family meeting where brothers haven't seen each other in ten, twenty or thirty years. Many of these good old soldiers are very poor, aome with only one leg, some with only one arm or eye Many are old and feeble but they want to meet their old brother comradee, and who could blame them? The railroade are good to them, will carry them there for | cent per mile each way. Atlanta wants to be good in providing for them while there. It will have to be done or many will suffer for tbe necessaries of life. They can't well provide for the very large number expected without help from elsewhere. Therefore they have called on tbe surrounding country for a little help. Without my solicitation or knowl« edge I waa appointed one of the as sistant commissary generals by Gen. C A Evans and it ia my duty to ask for a small contribution of money or supplies. All articles of food, not of a perish able character, can be cent in at any time. -Perishable foods may be deliv ered not earlier than 18tb and on through to 22d of July. Flour, meal, hams, beef, mutton, poultry, eggs, any thing io good food articles, will be accepted and acknowledged. The ;Morning Call and tbe Nebs and Sun have kindly con sented to accept any donation in my absence, and to publish tbe names and amounts eo kindly contributed* Business will not allow me to see many of you so please hand in to these offices whatever amount jou desire to give to help the good old veterans enjoy a reunion with their beloved comrades. I thank you in advance and in be half of tbe old veterans and Gen, Evans and the association for what ever you may contribute. Vary Respectfully B. N. Barrow, Ass’t. Com. Gen. U. C. V. A Story of President Faare. M. Felix Faure, president of the French republic, is a gentleman whose duties are many and whose pleasures are few. Among the latter is the tub. Eminently hygienic, it relaxes tensioh and distends the nerves; hence the pleasure of it. Recently mat ters of state followed him, it is reported, even there. A secretary entered, apolo gised no doubt, and In any event stated that the minister of foreign affairs had come regarding something of great ur gency which required his immediate atten tion. “Can’t I have any peace?” the presi dent in his exasperation cried. “Does he want to kill me—-In my bath at that?” *Sn, with a gesture infinitely resigned, the gestursMof ♦ martyn he added: "Show him in—show in Charlotte Corday.” FOR SALE. 420 acres of land, lying in a body adja cent to the village of Orchard HUI, Ga. and fronting Central Railroad of Georgia over one mile. At 6 ©’clock yesterday morning the bugle was sounded and R. Lawton, commander of First Regi ment, Georgia Volunteers, U. 8. In fantry, standing in front of his office saw every tent in camp go down in less than one minute, which was the first step of breaking camp for their departure to Chickamauga Park. By ten o’clock everything had been packed and all were waiting for the order to march. This regiment moved in four sec tions—‘two over the Southern and two the Central, the last section leaving just o’clock in the afternoon. The departure of these soldiers will be greatly lamented by our entire community as they wei;e an orderly set of men. The very best wishes of all go with them, and may their every wish be granted.
