At 8 o’clock elegant refreshments of strawberry cream and sherbet with cake and Naples biscuit were served on small tables placed on the lawn. Fret ' ty embroidered pieces covered these tables and geraniums and other bright bued flowers were the floral decora tions. About fifty guests were preas ent. 4 . - ■ ** * I The tally-bo ride which. In the party were seen numbers of young de* butantes, radiant in their fresh and simple beauty, and surrounded by groups of ardent admirers. Only a glance was necessary to see that pleas ure and wit reigned supreme, cares and troubles were forgotten in the ex citement of the moment, and happi ness came without seeking. L. Johnson, of Fort Smith, Ark., on Wednesday. This was one of.those delightful affaire which bring together a number of most congenial women, in a home where one is received with such charming hospitality. Flowers and beautiful girls were all abloom there Wednesday, and pink cheeks and pink roses an i pink confections were all in lovely correlation. Personally Mrs Brooks is a most attractive and inter esting woman, and added much to the pleasures of this occasion by that cor dial welcome characteristic of her bos pitality. Her costume of Wednesday was, as usual, very elegant; she wore a mag nificent gown of green and gray taf fetas, elaborately trimmed with passe menterie and handsome lace and car ried an armful of pink roses. Mrs. Johnson, the guest of honor, and one of Griffin’s most beautiful visitors, was lovely in a dainty toilette ol blue organdie, with stock and girdle of cerise taffetas. Miss Horne, of Washington, was pretty as usual in a gown of pink or gandie, profusely trimmed with black velvet. Thomas was the charming hostess at an elegant dinner parly Tuesday evening at bar hand some home on Poplar street at which several of her friends were delightfully entertained. The affair was a pretty compliment to Miss Lusie Hunt of Columbus, who was Mrs. Thomas’ guest during the past week. . Very recent improvements have been made on the Kiacaid home, and there is no handsomer residence in the city. The white steps and veranda are a suitable entrance to the beauty of' architecture that awaits within. The central hall is long, and vast, and tatty, Wth floor and heavily frescoed walls, and the entire first floor is arranged with an evident view to entertaining on a grand scale. The spacious draw ing room to the left of the entrance Lail, Ualefully furnished and decorated with tapestry, was used Tuesday as a reception room and there the hostess graciously received ber guests. Pink roses in artistic amugemeoT were the floral decorations. Mrs. Thomas was lovely in a handsome eveningioilette of black grenadine over cberry silk.
