The Kev. Dr. John Hall, pastor of
the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian church
of New York, whose death at Bangor,
County Down, Ireland, on Saturday
has been reported in the dispatches,
wae one of the leading clergymen of
thia country and presided over one of
its largest and richest congregations.
Dr. Hall was born of Scotch parents
io County Armagh seventy years ago.
His first work as a minister of the gos
pel was in Ireland, in which country
be remained until 1867, when became

year he received a call from the Fifth
Avenue church which he accepted. A

Dr Hall was elected Chancellor of the

An Ordinance.
A.n Ordinance to fix the term of office
the manner and time of election of City
Attorney for the city of Griffin. Be it or
dained by the mayor and council of the
city of Griffin, and it is hereby ordained
by authority of same. That from and af
ter the passage of this ordinance tbe City
Attorney shall hold his office for the term
of two years and until his successor to
elected and qualified, and shall be elected
by ballot by the mayor and council of
said city at tbe last meeting in November,
1898, and at the same meeting bi-anually
thereafter. Be it further ordained that all
ordinances and part* of ordinances m con
flict with this ordinance be, and the same
are hereby repealed.
