It is reported at Atlanta on good authority that Dr. I. S. Hopkins may go to St. Louis as pastor of St. John's Church in that city, one of the richest and largest Methodist Churches in the West. Btsbop Warren A. Candler is said to have recommended Dr. Hop kino' appointment. The bishops of the Methodist Church will meet in St- Louis on Wednesday ol next week. It is believed that at that meeting the name ol Dr. Hopkiqs will be presented by Dr. Candler for the place, and that he will be selected. The appointment of pastors in Missouri comes under the department of Dr. Candler this year, bis territory extending through several Western slates, one of them being Missouri. Be it or dained by the mayor and council of the city of Griffin, and it is hereby ordained by authority of same. That from and af ter the passage of this ordinance the City Attorney shall hold his office for the term of two years and until bis successor Is elected and qualified, and shall be elected by ballot by the mayor and council of said city at the last meeting in November, 1898, and at the same meeting bi-anually thereafter. Be it further ordained that all ordinances and parts of ordinances in con flict with this ordinance be, and the same are hereby repealed.
