In memory of Miss Winnie Davie,
the beloved and honored "Daughter of
the Confederacy :”
For weeks we have watched and
waited with baled breath, ea»
gorly hoping to hear cheering news
from the sick room of this noble wo*
man, so dear to the hearts of all true
Southern women.
We could not believe there was no
hope until on the 21st of Sept., 1898,
the news of her death went flashing
over the wires, carrying sadness to
thousands of homes all over the south.
We loved her fur her own pure self,
and for her sublime devotion to her
father, who was the honored chieftain
and leader of the cause, none the lees
dear, because lost!
We would gladly carry wreaths of
fragrant flowers and bright immor
telles to adorn the hallowed spot where
she “sleeps her last sleep," but as we
cannot', we offer these resolutions as a
tribute to her worth as a loving
daughter, a devoted friend, and loyal

Resolved, That we mingle our tears
and unite with thousands of others in
sorrow for her early death ; life seemed
all sunshine to her, and fondly she
hoped to live to cheer the remaining
years of life to the beloved mother.
Resolved, That we pledge ourselves
to a renewed devotion to the memory
of the Confederacy, and to the little

Pitt’s Carminative is pleasant to the
taste, acts promptly, and never fails to
give satisfaction. It carries children over
the critical time of teething, and is the
friend of anxious mothers and puny
children. A few doses will demonstrate
its value. E. H. Dorsey, Athens, Ga.,
writes: “I consider it the best medicine I
have ever used in my family. It does all
you claim for it, and even more."
