Another Death at Camp Northern
Private Huxford, of Captain Gil*
bert’s company' died at Camp North
en Monday night, after a protracted
illness of fever. Huxford is from Jes
sup, Ga , and was universaly liked by
both men and officers.
His remains were sent to the nation
al cemetery at Marietta last night,
where they will be buried today.
They were accompanied by an hon<
orary escort consisting of Corporal
Robinson and eight privates.
The Coffin of the dead soldier was
covered with beautiful floral offerings
from the ladies of Griffin, and Captain
Gilbert requests the/JAix to express
to them the heart/elt thanks of his
entire company for the many alien*

illness.

Judge Bek Resigns.
Major Marcus W. Beck yesterday
morning sent to the governor bis Ist*
ter, resigning the office ol judge of the
Flint circuit. It is generally known
that Judge Beck is a major in the 3rd
Georgia regiment, and is stationed at
Camp Nortben.
The prominent candidates for the
vacancy are Col. E J. Reagan, of Mo*
Donougb, and Col. Y. J. Allen, of
Thomaston. Politics is very uncertain,
and it is not known who the governor
will appoint. 6
