QI all tbe startling industrial re vol u

the Suited. States, that of our steel
makers being able to ship steel ship
plates to British shipbuilders and un
dersell British steel makers from two
to three dollars a ton, besides paying
the freight, iatbe greatest of all. This
ia a condition which tbe British them

momentarily benefiting by it. They
not only fear that it is a sign of a great

transfer to our shores a large share of

Those esteemed contemporaries of
ours that have been making humorous
paragraphs about the transport Ches

advising tbe government to change
tbe port of embarkation to their cities,
have really been doing Savannah a
great service. They didn’t mean to
do it, of course, but they have adver
tised the fact that the Chester came
into this port drawing 24 feet of water
and went out drawing 25 ; and there
is no ether port of tbe South Atlantic
where this could have occurred. The
monster steamer, as a matter of fact,
could not have gotten in at tbe so
called rival ports, much lees nave got

than when she arrived. Tbe Chester
went from the city to the sea drawing

HOW TO FIND OUT.
Fill a bottle or common glass with your
water and let it stand twenty-four hours;
a sediment or settling indicates an unheal
thy condition of the kidneys; if it stains
your linen it is evidence of kidney trouble;
too frequent desire to pass it or pain in the
back is also convincing proof that the kid
neys and bladder are out pf order.
What to Do.
There is comfort in the knowledge so of
ten expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’S Swamp-
Root, the great kidney remedy, fulfills ev
ery wish in curing rheumatism, pain in
the back, kidneys, liver, bladder and every
part of the urinary passages. It corrects
inability to hold water and scalding pain
in passing it, or bad effects following use
of liquor, wine or beer, and overcomes that
unpleasant necessity of being compelled
to go often during the day, and to get up
many times during the night. The mild
and the extraordinary effect of Swamp-
Root is soon realized. It stands the high
est for ite wonderful cures of the most dis
tressing cases. If you need a medicine you
should have the best. At druggists fifty
cents or one dollar.
You may h >ve a sample bottle and a
book that tells more about it, both sent
absolutely free by mail, if you send your
address to Dr. Kilmer & Co., Bingham
ton, N. Y. When writing be sure and
mention that you read this generous offer
in the Middle Georgia Farmer.

THE
MTOL LIFE INSURANCE CO.
OF NEW YORK.
Breaks The Dividend Record.
It has always held the record securely, but the claim paid by the compa
ny upon a policy issued to Mr. Mark Banks, of Connecticut, the particulars 1
of which are given here, shows that THE MUTUAL LIFE has in this in
stance eclipsed all previous dividend results: v ‘ I
Mr. Bankswas insured for 221
Paid to the estate - $17,088.001
How does this happen? Mr. Banks paid all the premiums in cash, ® n . I
he did this for fifty-tour years. He did not utilize any portion of the 1
dends in payment of premiums, but permitted the Company to invest these
for his benefit. Here are the particulars:
Policy No. 1,283. Issued March 5,1845. 85,000.1
Age 40. Annual premium, $l6O. Life Flan.
Original insurance in 1845, -
Dividend additions paid in 1898, .I»,<bo.W I
Amount of death claim ftAn’oo I
54 Premiums paid by insured - 0,0w.w i
Realized to estate over premiums paid SB.BBBOOI
Being nearly equal to a return of all the premiums paid with two and a halt (2|) per I
cent, compound interest per annum, with insurance increasing annually from so,vue 1
at age 40, to $17,028 at age 94. . I
_ The dividend additions paid to the estate were 139 per cent, of all the premiums |
paid for the insurance.
Mr. Mark Banks was the treasurer and cashier of the Greenwich Savings
Bank, and died at the good old age of ninety-four. He appreciated the
power of compound interest, and his wisdom is exemplified by the result of
his method of investment —a result that has neVter been equalled by a policy
holder in any other company in the world.
