Bean the The Kind You Have Always Bought
All Bets Were Off-
Mike Neacy is a Mason street butch
er who by good butchering has obtain
ed quite a competence, says the Chi
cago Chronicle. By good wits be has
achieved quite a prominent position
in politics and is one of Mayor Rose's
advisers, and bis combination of good
butchering, good looks, good wits, and
good-fellowship has made him • very
popular member of the Bon Ami Club,
which, despite its French name, is an
Irish organization, and, of course, being
Irish, a political organization as well,
though the professed tendencies of the
club are purely social.
The telephone rang in Mr. Neacy’s
butcher’s shop and a sweet voice asked
Mr. Neacy:
"Have you this morning a nice, fat>
juicy steak?”
‘ You bet your socks we have,” an
swered Mr. Neacy, heartily.
“Sir!” came a voice back through
the telephone in such a coldly indiga
nant tone that Neacy thought the
refrigerator door was open, "Do you
know whom you are talking to?”
“Bridget.”
'No sir; I am Mrs. Van Zant.”
all bets are off.”
