The city council failed to hold its regular meeting last night on account of the absence from the city of Mayor Davis and several aidermen. They will meet Friday evening at 7 o’clock, when they will transact considerable business of importance. The Current Topics Club will meet this morning at 10 o’clock. Dr. Anthony has kindly consented to lec ture before Che club, and bis subject will be “Water.” Every member is requested to be present. Col. J. M. Strickland will leave in a few days to take charge of the Thom aston Times which be purchased some time ago. Col. There was a total eclipse of the moon last night, and the phenomenon was witnessed by all our citizens. The entire duration of the eclipse was 3 boors, 48 minutes and 54 sec onds, and the moon was totally eclips ed for ore hour, 29 minutes and 12 seconds.
