AN UNKNOWN NEGRO KILLED SY
ONE OF HIS OWN RACE,
Who Gets Away in a Long Tailed

On Monday evening the body of
on unknown negro «as found lying
in a gully in Cabins district, about
fifty yards from the Georgia Midland
IlH. and four miles east of Griffin.
He was a short man, weighing
140 pom K and wearing striped
pants, the t- of his clothing and
hands to 1 be being burned away
by a fir- ha. was made after his
death, ct ieutiy to conceal the crime.
A coroner’s inquest was held on
yesterday, at which the following tes
uroony, in brief, was elicited: The
deceased was seen on Monday morn
ing coming from McDonough to
Griffin Hi company with a much
larger negio, with whom he seems
to have beer ‘ relling. About
ten o’clock a . port was heard
in the neighborhood of where the
body was found, and the large ne¬
gro, in his long tailed coat was
seen hurrying from the scene toward
Griffin. He was accosted by one
or two color- d people, but denied
any ktvjwte< ■*. of the matter. From
Griffin be is r .u have gone to At
lanta. It is ih»* .ghi that they were
two railroad laborers who became
involved in some quarrel.
The dead negro had a ball through
his heart and another wound in his
chest. The coroner’s jury found that
he came to his death from a gun shot
wound inflicted by some unknown
colored man.

Farmers' Alliances, There are.about
200 members in the couutv, and the
number is rapidly increasing. Organiz

tinue to grow much colder, I very ranch
fear that wo will have a killing fros
the full of the moon, which would prove
detrimental to tho farmers. Surely they
are incident to more disasters than any

the other one with a fine hut. Of course,
I »m going to make every honest effort
possible to get the hat, and I reckon he
will too, but I would be very glad if fie
would give it up now, for I certainly
stand in great need perhaps more so
than I will next fall, I have planted
