A shooting scrape occurred at Ramp
ton Saturday afternoon between Parker
Brown, Jr., and Frank Curry. Brown
and a crowd of friends were speaking
about some ir. -s conceding politics
in Henry count; During the conversa
tion Frank Carry came up apd entered
into the discussion. It was not long ere
hot words took place between Brown
and Curry. It seems that Cnrry insult
ed Brown, whereupou Brown, suddenly
drew his pistol and would have undoubt
edly slain him but for tho interference
of a bystander who knocked the pistol
up causing the ball to take an upward
course. The difficulty ended without
any further shots being fired. It is said
that Curry suddenly took his departure
when Brown drew his pistol.

Year 1888.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council
the city of Griffin, and it is hereby ordain
by authority of the sam6.
•Section 1, That the sum of 2C cents be and
same is hereby imposed on each and
every one hundred dollars of real estate with
