into our office yesterday n few bolls of cot
ton of the early and late crops. In onr exam
inations of these we find that the early crop
has been injured to a great extent on ac¬
count of the recent rains. It is estimated-
t hat at least one-fifth of the crop will be a
total loss. The late crop, however, as yet
has not been injured to amount to J any¬
thing. It is to be hoped that the rain will
soon cease and give the farmers a chance to
gather the crops that so long have been at
its mercy.
