AN IMPORTANT CONFERENCE
Decides Ihat a Western Headquarters
Is Unnecessary,
Chicago; Sept. 17. — Chairman
Brice, of the National Democratic
Committee, and representative Dem
ocrats from Wisconsin, Michigan, In
diana and Illinois, were in confer¬
ence at the Palmer House this morn
ing. There were present National
Committeemen Phelps, of Illinois ;
Kelly, of Minnesota; State Chair¬
man Doran, of Minnesota; Camp¬
bell, of Illinois; Hunter, of Iowa;
Weston, of Michigan ; Jewett, of In
diana; Usher, of Wisconsin, and Mr
Charles J. Fox, of Washington. The
question of establishing a branch
headquarters of the National Com
mltteemen for the Northwestern
States was discussed. It was almost
unanimously decided that such a
thing would be impracticable and
unnecessary. Adjournment was ta
ken, with the understanding that the
Western Committee will get about
what they want, {ami that an extra
effort is to be put forth from this
time on in the States of Michigan,
Illinois and Minnesota.
A Hint t® Puny People,
From their arrival on this planet to their
usually early departure from it, people of
weak constitutions and angular physiques dormice
pass a sort of half-exietence. Like
they burrow in thei-i home retreats, afraid
of heat, afiaid of cold, constantly afraid
that the shadow of the dread reaper will ma
terialize and exact the forfeit which he de¬
mands from all, sooner or later. No finer
msdicinal assurance of comparative vi <or for
the feeble exists than that afforded by Hos¬
tel tcr’s Stemach Bitters. Used with persis¬
tence—not with spurtaand commended spasms—thi tonic gen¬ will
do ial much and professionally toward infusing strength into a
pnny system; and rounding off scrawny an
gles iu the human figure. Appetite, nerve
tranquility and nightly repose are encour¬
aged by it, and a malarial, rheumatic, bilious
tendency overcome. It reestablishes diges
tion and prevent! kidney tronbles.
