delivery window in the post office

‘‘What irit you wish, madam?”
inquired George Cunningham in bis

“Are you the postmaster?’”
“No, ma’am, but—”
“Thought you didn’t look old

“Young man, I’ve walked eleven
blocks to get here, and I pay as
much to support this post office as
any woman of ray means in the city.
I’m going to get what 1 came for or
I’ll raise the biggest row you ever
saw. You’re a-listening to me, are
you, young man?”
“I am, madam. Will you please
tell me what you wish?”

“What do you want it'for?”
“1 want to write ‘In haste’ ou the

dropped it in, and the letter’s import

“1 can’t do such a thing as that for
you, ma’am. Besides it isn’t neces¬

‘•It ain’t, hey ! Perhaps you
know more ibou. w ting letters

Here is a first class and very ex
pensive work of high art, dearly be
loved, that we bought in order to ap

feat. But u closer inspection reveals
tho fact tbat the artist has grossly
imposed upon our confidence. The
hat is tie hat of Benjamin, but the
feet are the feet of Grover!

A Novel Wager and Its Ending.
In a rece.it issue of the News we
mentioned tbs tact that two young
men had agreed that in oase Harri¬
son carried Indiana the other should
ride the winner in a wheelbrro v,
from the Jossey corner to the post
office and return The wager was
made between Paul Patile, Jr.,
and Emmett C. Brown. Yesterday
noon the wager was carried out by
the winner, Paul Paille, seating
himself in as graceful a manner aa
possible in the wheelbarrow and the
loser, Emmet Brown, with tears of
humiliation rolling down bis cheek',
grasping the handles of the wheelbar
row and wheeling him to the place
agreed upon. This comic scene was
witnessed by quite a number of citi¬
zens and afforded them much amuse¬
ment.
