In this connection we may mention the
fact, omitted from yesterday's report of the
Council proceedings, that s petition signed
by nearly all the solid citizens of Griffin, was
presented to the Council in executive ses¬
sion asking that W. B. Hudson be made
chief. Several aldermen had come to Mr.
Hudsen during the day and asked him to
run, and *ix vote#, or a two-thirds majosity,
were pledged to him if he would be a candi¬
date; bat while deeply appreciating this
unsolicited eompliment by the citizens, he
felt that his business would.not allow him
tv accept the office, and his name was with¬
drawn from nomination by Alderman Burr.
