Reproducing the recent article from
the Atlanta correspondent of the
Macon Telegraph, already published
in these columns, the Henry County
Times says:
The gentleman above alluded to as
“figuring on a Grady-Stewart race”
is not, in our opinion, “well-in¬
formed.” Fulton county, we sup¬
pose, will jjive her votes to Grady,
if he desires them, but as to the
other counties going so easily and
unanimously to him, or any other
Atlanta politician, we are not so
rare.
In 1885 the little county of Rock-
dale gave Hammond a majority of
18 votes over Jackson out of a total
of 437. She gave Stewart a majori¬
ty of 400 over Hammond in 1886
out of a total vote of 500; and, yet,
the “writ informed(?)” Atlanta gen¬
tleman gives her to Grady without a
straggle!
The friends of Stewart in the
counties of Newton and Walton are
acquainted with bis worth and abili¬
ty and will strongly oppose anj one
who may enter the field against him.
The “well informed” Atlanta gen¬
tleman gives Henry to Stewart but
leaves Douglas, a county that gave
Stewart a majority of300 over Ham¬
mond, out entirely.
Stewart, as against Grady, will
carry thecounties of Spalding,
ette, Campbell, Douglass, Clayton,
Bockdale and Henry—14 votes—sure,
lacking bnt two of a majority. He
carried Walton and Newton before
jmd he is stronger than Grady in
DeKalb. We concede Fulton—noth¬
ing more.

Lawn tennis is holding its own

one in present use. Added interest
and attendance has been occasioned
by reports of a lawn tennis tea to be

There are also pleasing rumors of

are on the qui vive of expectation.

Editor News and Sun—I notice
you have occasionally called atten¬
tion to our citizens taking an in¬

should have connected with jt con¬
veniences, such as bath housas,
boating and fishing. A pond large

learn how to swim and exercise them-
selves In water jvill save many
doctor bills and probably many
lives by knowing how to swim. There

and children that can’t swim.
There are many other advantages
to be derived from a park. Our citi¬
