All the ginneries are crowded with
cotton now.
Jim Newton is clerking at the New

The circus boards have been re¬
billed and are as gay and lifelike as
ever.
, Sixtj-eight earloads of freight were
shipped from Griffin on the Central
road alone last Thursday.
The cool nights and hot days are
making cotton open very rapidly,
and the farmers are kept in a rush.
Dixie bagging seems to be growing
in popularity with the farmers. The
cotton bales look mighty pretty and
clean wrapped in it.

A man named John IV. Rose was
arrested at Atlanta a few days ago
on the supposition that he was a
man of that name wanted at Augus
ta for forgery. The prisoner proved
to be the wrong Rose. Now be is su¬

A bill to grant a charter to Walesca
in Cherokee county, was introduced
in the House at Atlanta Tuesday.
The bill is as long as the moral law.
No one in the House had ever heard
of the place. Possibly a joke - has
been played on the lawmakers. At
all events the measure will be shelv¬
ed.
The Comanche Indians at the ex¬
position ground at Atlanta got on a
tare Tuesday night, and for a time
it looked as if Dr. Strom, the inter
preter, would lose his scanty crop of
hair. The exposition directors have
published a notice that they will
prosecute any one who sells an In¬
dian whisky. They are the wards of
the nation, and there is a law prohib¬
iting any one from selling them whis¬
ky under a penalty of $1,000 fine
and imprisonment.

answer to the motion will be filed,
and it will be shown that the Topaz
company is solvent, and has over

The Western raflroad of Alabama

A meeting of,the Central directors

is understood that General Alexan¬
