Knocked in the Head.
On Monday last a negro man
mimed Og Calhoun was knocked
tlie head, on Ilammhntnhco
bridge, under the following circum
stances. During Cliriutmns week
Og attended a supper tit a neigh
bor’a bouse, where lie met some
sisters of Cass llcndinglield, with
whom lie got into a dispute which
finally took the shape of a general
cursing out. Cass upon hearing
of it said that lie should whip Og
on sight. Oil Monday morning the
two met upon the )lum>almtchi.c
bridge nnd jti9t ns Og passed, Cass
dealt him a heavy blow witli a
pcicc of scantling, upon the buck
of the head, knocking him down
and rendering him senseless. Cass
^tlicn left, leaving Og lying upon
tlie bridge in an insensible condi
tion, where lie remained during tlie
day until late in tlie evening, when
be was carried home. Dr. Oordy
was called to sec him Monday
night, anti upon examination found
his skull ull right anti the negro
is slowly recovering from tlio ter
rible shock. At last accounts lie
was doing very well nnd will doubt
