Quite a gay crowd of young peo- pie assembled at the residence of Dr. S. R. Hawkins, Thursday eve ning, to enjoy a Leap Year dance given by bis fascinating daughter, Miss Kina. The young ladies were entire “maHters” of the occasion, and the young men, unless other* wise solicited, were forced to adorn the wnlls. Parnella’s famous Italian band, of Macon, discoursed melodious music, and the devotees of Terp sichore “tripped the light fantastic tie'* until the “wee suia’ hours The lawn in fiontof the residence was dotted with tables, where fiber* bert and cake were served to those desiring. The merry crowd seated at the tables beneath the mellow rays ot the moon presented quite a picturesque scene. Miss Alice Greeu, late of Atlan ta, made her debut in Americus so ciety on this occasion, and by her easy mannei*, combined with her loveliness, made many friends.
