The County Commissioners of Sumter eounty met Monday morn- iug dud transacted their usual rou- tine of busiuess. As many as a half dozen appeals tor help from poor people were before them. This is one great bunlen on the county, and so far the commission ers have been uiinblo to do any thing hut submit to these demands. It is impossible to send them to the poor house, as they arc only aided leuiiiorarily. Another great aunoyanee to tlie commissioners is the county bridges. Bridges are numerous in this seotion, and for some reason they are always falling down, or washing away, or some other dire calamity is happening to them, so the commissioner* are constantly kept in hot water in regard to them. The usual number of bills were paid, with a groan from the com- * mtsaioners. Mr. *T. B. C. McCarty was elect- ed keeper of the poor house for another year. The pour house now has 14 inmates.
