Tbe Allen House, as the new hotel has been christened, will be opened to tbe public to-day at noon. When Col. Ilawkins first talked of renovating tbe old brick block on tue corner of Cotton Avenue and Forsyth street, and converting it into a hotel, people generally thought it a foolish un< lertaking, as it was supposed that it could not be made to look pre sentable, but now that the work has been done, and the building made to look like new inside and mt, the transformation is so won lerful that all are lost in admira tion at the genius which created so wondrriul a change. Tbe'hotel is i model of neatness and comfort, ■ nside and out, and under the charge of Mrs. W. II. Allen wt 1 soon become one ot tbe most popu lar hotels in tbe State. Mrs. Allen is already well and favorably known to tbe traveling public, having con ducted the Farmer House at Daw son in such a manner as to mske it a favorite resort of travelers, and we bare every reason to believe that she will make the Allen House even more popular.
