The latest indications from the
political aentres of the North are
of the most encouraging character.
Blaine is represented to be serious
ly frightened by the indifference
and apathy of the administration
and of leading Republicans. As it
is rather late for eunstrokee the gas
magnetizer has been indulging in
painting fits.
The Chicago Times (lad.) is not
unduly boastful hut confident of
the result on the 4th of November.
It nave: “Prescience is ono of
the attributes of the Almighty
with wbioh the Times, unlike the
party organs, does not profess to
111 eadowed. No finite being
knows what will happen in New
York, New Jersey, Connecticut
•nd Indiana uu the 4th day ol
November. But a calm survey of
the situation certainly justifies the
friends of Oov. Cleveland in the
most hopeful anticipation aa to the
result.’’
The Stalwarts aro the latest ele
ment ot the opposition to Mr.
Blaine that has appeared on the
political stage In New York. In
giving their reasons for declining
to support the republican nominee
they talk so like independent! that
the latter will be justified in adding
their natnee to the list of 60,000
republicans wbote voting for Cleve
land they regard at a sure thing.
The Stalwart reason for not voting
for Mr. Blaine by which they are
moet influenced is the one Mr.
Conkling’s 140 Utica admirers do
net mention in their address—the
fact that it was Mr. Blaine's sug
gestion that Secretary Folgcr was
so badly treated in 1882.
It is generally believed the State
ol Tennessee has solved the Mor
mon question so far as the settle
meat of persons of that faith is
concerned. The last of the Mor

the counties where they resided,
October 6lh being the last da\
granted them by the vigilance
committee on which to leave the
Stale. The migrating Mormons
who have already passed through
Narhville on their way West, were
provided with passes issued by the
local vigilance committee. Those
who remain after Octolicr 6th, will
do to oa peril of their lives. They
• will be shot or hung at sight. This

Specially was this true ol' many large and celebrated Clothing

on lively and profitable September trade, absolutely relying on
it for funds to meet their maturing paper, which they had given
for piece goods, but the trade did not come, the continuous
warm weather nnd no customers cooked their “goose,” and there
was nothing left for them to do but to fail and turn their goods
over to an Assignee. It was bad for them, but it is in your
power to make it good for. you, lor. as usual, when good goods
