Richmond, Va., Nov. 4, 9 p. m.— No disturbance of any consequence here to-day, though a number of negroes were arrested for attempt ing to vote illegally. A large vote has been poi'ed,nnd the indications are tbat Cleveland nnd Wise will carry the city at least by 2,000 majority. Richmond, Va., Nov. 4—Repub licans make slight gains in Ports mouth and Fredericksburg over Massy Wise vote, which is the basis upon which estimates are being made. It is estimated tbat Bedford will give Cleveland and Daniel 1,200 majority, Democratic gain of nearly 350. Richmond, Va., Nov. 4 80 pre cincts this State Democratic gain 111. Galveston. Tex., Nov. 4.— A heavy voto was pulled in Texas nnd much scratching. The local Indications point to the election of Crane, Democrat, over Rentfro and Nelson, Republicans. Returns from the Stato are very meagre, but indicate the election of every Democratic congressman. Ellaville, Nov. 4.—Nine hun dred bales of cotton have been re ceived at the Ellaville Warehouse and two hundred at tbe depot for shipment by planters, making 1,100 bales received here. If tbe railroad had bccn'compictcd in time for the first cotton,* wc would have receiv ed 3,000 hales. Our people seem to be very in- ' difl n rent as to the election, however we bopo this will bo the banner county of tile 13th Senatorial Dis trict. One of our merchants lost some money on tho H. DISTRESSINGLY QUIET. Dawson, Nov. 4.—Hon O. B. Stevens, our newly elected repre sentative, left yesterday for Atlan ta to enter upon the duties of hi* duties. We expect a good report from him, and I for one, am confi dent wc will not be disappointed. Senator Uoyl went up to-day. Mr. R. U. Slappey, of Schley county, made a visit to our city last wrek, bringing bit daughter Mins Lizzie to attend tbe ma'e and female college. Scarcely a day passes but brings new accessions to Ibis noble institution. Mist Annie C.ieatham, who has been absent about two months, returned last Saturday, in excellent health. She enjoyed her trip im mensely. A few of her particular Iricnda called on her last night and joined her in a nice little musical. Wo had piano,organ, violin,guitar, harmonica, and some of the best voices in the city. It was deoided- ly an cnioyabie occasion; and the “funny part’’ of it was—as Betsy Hamilton would say, “lliar was two gals lo every feller.” Miss Mollio Turner has just re turned from Webster connty, where she passed a week very pieasantly among relatives and friends. She was delighted with their protracted parties. Rev. Mr. Stansberry preached two fine seimont at tbe Baptist church last Sunday. The election hero to day is a dis tressingly quiet one.
