Americus Recorder. W. kaUHHW, Mltar. Ilfclll Uiffi *r Websltr Canaty. THURSDAY. HOY. 0. 1684. The Georgia Legislature aiiem bled yetjerday.- v Georgia tends a solid Democratic delegation to Congress. Crisp and olcar ring out the clarion notes of Democratic victory in this district. . nl j i i^p » - Sam Randall, the great Demo cratic protectionist, has been re- elected to Congress. The “Independents" of Webster have a very strong penchant for voting the Democratic ticket. It was a luneral 'Bell that tolled the defeat of the Republicans in this congressional district last Tuesday. * Ur. Bell told the Hawkinsville News editor that if be was. n.ot elected to Congress, he would know the reason why. If he has not al ready found out why he was not elected, we can give him the reason —a failure to receive a sufficient number of votes. The bonds of Georgia which fall due in 1886 oonsists of $879,100 of 6 per cent, bonds issued by Gov, Jenkins under authority of the act of Feb. 87, 1856, for the construe tion of the Western and Atlantic Railroad; $3,968,000 7 per cent, bonds Issued by Gov. Jenkins un- der the authority of the act of Marah.iS, 1866, in renewal of old bonds; $99,000 8 per cent, bonds issued by Gov. Smith under au thority of act of Feb. 19, 1873, in renewal of old bonds. This makes a tqtsd of'$3,$66,100. Should the whole of this debt be refunded a* 4 per cent., the annual saving to the State would be $98,683. The bonds falling due in 1885 are $91,- 000 of 8 per cent, bonds issued by Gov. Smith under act of Feb. 19, 1873, in renewal of old bonds, and $ltf ( 035 of 4 per cent, bonds issued by Gov. Colquitt under act of Dec. 14, r 1878, to redeem maturing bonds. CBISP fok'iwiubess. The returns from this Congress' Tonal district are better than we feared they would be, and it affords us pleasure to announce the re- election of Bon. C. F. Crisp by a handsome majority—one of which he may well feel proud, considering the efforts made by his opponent. Bis election' shows not only that the people of the district appreci ate his faithfulness and ability as a representative, but also that they are not yet ready to intrust thoir interests to a man whose principal support must of necessity come from a class a large majority of whom have no proprietary inter ests at stake. We are especially pleased with the result, as at once emphatically retuting the claims of the Republicans that they bad a majority in this district under a fair and full vote. No one will deny that a fair vote was conceded them, and if It was not full It cer tainly was not their fault, foi greater efforts to organize and bring It out were made this year than there has been tor mrny years. A Chinese pamphlet recently cir eulated in Bong Kong against the Ohristiam mission vo'k affirms that Europeans do nut belong to the human race, but are descended from monkeys. This race of wild beings worship neither the heavens nor the earth; they do not honor their parents nor hive respect for their forefathers. They come into China under the pretense of preach ing a religion, but really come to take the eyes anJ tbe brains of dy ing people and the blood of'child- ren. With these tbev make medi cal pills, which they sell in their country, aid In this manner secure shrewdness. A Kereaae KaM U PaaMiag. OMTtneviiu, Nov. 3 Satur day night Deputy Marshal Garri son and Collector Crawford made a raid in Paulding county, and succeeded in capturing two old offenders against tbe revenue laws, Ji«JH*phell and Jim Kirk. Specially was this true of many large and celebrated Clothing manufacturers who had made up numerous stocks from materi als bought mi credit. These manufacturers placed their faith on lively and profitable September trade, absolutely relying on it for funds to meet their maturing paper, which they had given for piece goods, but the trade did not come, the continuous warm weather and no customers cooked their “goose,” and there was nothing left for them to do but to fail and turn their goods over to an Assignee. It was bad for them, but it is in your power to make it good for you, lor, as usual, when good goods are to he sacrificed we are always on hand. Our Mr. Joe Waxelbaum was there, and notwithstanding the fact that we were already prepared with a stock of Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars, we bought Thirty-Three Thousand more in Roys, Chil drens and Men’s Clothing, Dry Goods, Dress Goods, Fancy Goods.
