How a Negro Loved Pork.
A week or so ago, Mr. Jim Walk
er, who la ovcrieor on M. B. Coun
cil’s plantation iu tho Fifteenth
district, missed some nice porkers.
He suspected one of the negroes
oh' the place named Dick, and last
Saturday he caught him with some
of the meat. He immediately col
lared him and started to town,
bringing the meat and the negro
in the samo wagon. When by Mr.
Boswortlt’s place, just on the edge
of the city, the negro succeeded in
freeing one hand and throwing the
meat out, and as it was dark, it
was not noticed. About n block
further on he got loose entirely,
and jumped out. Walker gave
chase, and by the aid of a neighbor
succeeded in capturing and arrest
ing him. He is now where pork
will not bother him for some time
to come.

A Saucy Negro.
Saturday night Mrs. Bugg Chap
man was called to her door by a
negro, who said there were some
pigs in her yard. Mrs. Chapman
secured some help and drove them
out and then wont back to her
work. As she went through the
hall to her room her daughter said
some one was playing on the piano.
Getting a light she went into the
parlor and soon found a big buck
negro resting himself in a rocker.
Tho negro said he didn’t want
anything, but as soon as the lady
went for a gun he made a sadden
disappearance and has not been
heard of since.

BUSTED AT LAST.
'Since beginning the Bargain
Store, many rumors and guesses
bow long it will last have made
their rounds, bat not until my re
cent visit to bay my second fall
stock bare the above utterances
been used by competitors.
But we are far from being bust
ed. The Bargain Store to day
stands on solid footing, and the
purchase of the second stock ought
to, and tells the talcs with quite a
different result.
We claim to-day, in less than
twelve months of its existence, to
do the largest cosh business of any
Dry Goods House in Southwest
Georgia, and we also claim that we
have opened an avenue for the
Americas trading people to get
good goods at less prices than they
were ever offered before. No mat
ter, busted or not busted, we will
continue to sell you goods at bust
ed prices, and we wish to call your
attention that the goods recently
purchased on my last trip are com
ing in, and will surpass anything
in price and quality ever ofiered
before. Gome early and get the
first selection.
I will call the especial attention
of the ladies to my large and as-
sorted stock of Cloaks and Dol
mans, which I offer, owing to the
scarcity of money, at half their
value.
Owing to the soareity of room
and the meagre facilities for show
ing the goods, we will offer especial
bargains in Ladies and Misse9
trimmed and nntrimmed hats. Also
feathers, flowers and millinery trim
mings of all descriptions. It is
useless and impossible to mention
tho diflerent specialties and bar
gains which we offer. We continue
to receive goods of all descriptions
and we will make it to your inter
est to call and examine and price
onr goods before purchasing else-
wherere. Respectfully,
S. M. COHEN,
