A Night of Runaways. Thursday night as Mr. H. C. Bagley was driving home his horse ran ! nto a pile of dirt thrown up from a sewer by Harrold, Johnson <Sc Co’s, warehouse. The embank ment was three or lour feet high, and in going over it the horse fell down. Mr. Bagley endeavored to get eat of the buggy, but tho horse sprang to its foot/ throwing Mr. Bagley ont and rightlngtbe buggy, which was partly turned. Fortu nately Mr. Bagley landed in the soft dirt without injury. The horse sthrted on a' run for home, but took the railroad track where it crosses Troupe street, until it got in a heavy cut, when it tried to get out, but fell down on tbe track in such a way that it could not get up. Just then the night train left the depot for Anderson- villc, and had it not been for the tiupel^ arrival of seme negroee j.be horse and buggy would havu been demolished. While the negroes were getting Mr. Bagloy’s horse aut Mr. Pope’s horse ran away and landed in tbe embankment, and it was with diffi culty that both were rescued in time. Mr. Pope is a sewing ma chine agent, and was just return ing home. * Mr. Bagley’s baggy was made by Oliver & Oliver, and alter being dragged two miles only bad the shafts broken, tbe scat knocked oil and tbe dash-board bent back, whicb is a fitting testimonial of tbe worth of the buggy.
