There are now 117 cotton seed
oil mills ini the United States,
nearly all of them being in tbe
South. Competition has resulted
in the inoreasing of the prioe of
seed and the reduction of tbe price
of Oil until several mills have been
forced to suspend. It is stated
that #900,000 were sunk by the
Itemphis’oil mills last year, and

New York is said to be making
more' money out of cotton seed oil

stuff and sells it for “pure olive

cents par pound, the demand for
cotton seed oil tor domestic pur

Rumored frustration of The Sale or
Tho B. ft IT. Railroad
A Brunswick special to the
Savannah News says it is rumored
in Brunswick tbat the salo of the
Brunswick and Western Railroad
has been frustrated, and that the
Frankfort Committee, with oertain
parties in Albany and Brunswlok,
will take charge of the road soon.
It has been an open secret in
railroad circles for some time past
that the attorneys of tbe Plant In
vestment Company, soon after the
latter bought the road, discovered
sons objeotions to the titles. Tbe
Seligmatu,firomwhom, or through
whom, tbe road was sold, wore
then asked to guarantee tho titles.
They ¥etosed to this, bat said they
thought they could send an agent
to Gertoany and have the objec
tion* that had been found to the
titles' tofatoved. Tbe rumored frust
ration of the sale would/ therefore,
in view of the facta stated above,
indicate that tbe Bellgmani have
failed in getting tbe objections re-
ferrad te be removed.
In Ibis connection another fact
which tonot generally known may
ba elated, ana that is tbat tbe new
management Of tbe road, as organ
ised under tho alleged change of
•WOerablp, has never taken charge
of the toad'or assumed control of
its operations Albany News.

,Tha wisdom of reducing the
postage on letters is shown by the
results of the year as made up by
the postmaster general. While
the postage was reduced one-third,
there wan only a deorease of less
than five per cent as compared
a Wltit.lb 4 previous year. Tne post
master-general believes that there
an increase of revenue dur-
j current year. The post-
msalergtoctal urges tha necessity
of establishing free delivery where
there ia a population of ten thous
and people, and as we have more
than doable that number, our
eflorts ibpAl4.be dlreoted towards
getting the free delivery for Col
umbus, At present the postage is
two cent* but he suggests tbat it
ba reduced—-Columbus Enquirer.

Specially was this true of many large and celebrated Clothing
manufacturers who had made up numerous stocks from materi
als bought on credit. These manufacturers placed their faith
Qfi lively and profitable September trade, absolutely relying on
it for funds to meet their maturing paper, which they had given
for piece goods, but the trade did not-come, the continuous
warm weather and no customers cooked their “goose,” and there
was nothing left for them to do but to fail and turn their goods
over to an Assignee. It was bad for them, but it is in your
power to make it good for you, for, as usual, when good goods
are to be sacrificed we are always on hand. Our Mr. > Joe
Waxelbaum was there, an< * notwithstanding the fact that we
were already prepared with a stock of Seventy-Five Thousand
Dollars, we bought Thirty-Three Thousand more in Boys, Chil
drens and Men’s Clothing, Dry Goods, Dress Goods, Fancy
Goods, Corsets, etc., at prices varying from 30 to 60 per cent,
